There was a thread somewhere on this site about light bulb colors and symbolism. Blue was either for drug house or cop support it seems. |
I don’t see it as an accepted fact. But then again, the officers I know have masters degrees and are remarkably intelligent. (I also believe that making blanket statements or generalizations is lazy thinking.) |
Then sign up for the force, buddy. Maybe the dweeb who keeps resurrecting this thread will join you, though not sure he will pass the background due to his unhealthy obsession with LE. |
I believe the latest study on education levels in law enforcement was back in 2017. It showed 30.2% had a bachelor’s degrees. I’m certain that percentage is higher now. With so many majors focused on segments of the workforce that are being downsized there will be many more college graduates looking for a well paying job. We’re lucky that the DC area law enforcement organizations pay more to start than most college grads make a few years after college. There is also the 30x30 initiative that works to ensure 30% of recruits are women by 2030. |
| What I dislike is day after day driving through NOVA (Fairfax, Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, Annandale) seeing people run lights, speed, drive aggressively and not seeing cops pull anyone over anymore. They just sit in empty parking lots now. I'm over it. Never was I part of the defund the police crew but watching them do nothing for 5 years now. I seems like it might be making sense. They're really not doing their jobs anymore. What's the point? Police used to be proactive not reactive. |
Police have literally been told they CAN’T enforce the way they used to. Yes, you’re going to see them sitting around more, waiting until they actually have permission and approval to act. This is what local and state legislatures have decided they can do. I wouldn’t blame the police for their inaction. |
|
I was almost run over by a Capitol police cop this morning. I was crossing in the crosswalk and she didn't stop at all or even look. I was able to catch up to her (DC traffic) and gave her the most WTF look. She knew she should have stopped, just didn't care.
I don't hate cops, but man, why are most of them arrogant jerks? |
Are most of them arrogant jerks? There are over 750,000 officers in the United States. I know a couple who are arrogant, but most I personally know are great people. I have a hard time believing “most” of the 750,000 are arrogant jerks. |
The overwhelming majority I encountered during my 47 years on earth have been very arrogant. It's like a defense mechanism. Perhaps when they are not on the job, they can relax and be more themselves. |
I hate police and ICE because I’m a democrat. |
Sounds like you have oppositional defiance disorder. |
| I hate the police because they’re needlessly aggressive and amplify situations to dangerous levels instead of protecting the public, and I’m sick of it. |
But do they, or does your social media just tell you they do? |
Ironical post. |
How is it ironic? It would be ironic if I followed the original statement by saying that it’s an accepted fact officers are intelligent. That would be making a blanket statement and therefore ironic. Instead, I said officers **I know** are intelligent, only speaking for my own observations and not everybody’s. Therefore, I was suggesting the “accepted fact” may not be that accepted after all. |
