| Does anyone know why Norah Lycknell is leaving Brookland MS? I think she would be a great choice for Deal or Hardy. Any chance that might happen? I know she wasn't a great fit for Brookland but she will probably be more successful in NW. |
| I think the parent/community panel for the Hardy principal were a couple weeks ago. No idea who candidates were or if she was among them. |
| I don't want her at Deal. She was good at getting money out of DCPS but lousy (and lazy) with the day-to-day operations of the school. She never came to events, etc. and she had definite favorites. |
| She's going to Hardy |
If you weren't a favorite forget about getting any kind of response from her. |
| Is she really going to Hardy? Can someone confirm that? That would be awesome. She is not the most personable but she is smart and works hard. She did a lot more at Janney than just work on the renovation. And now she has middle school experience to boot. I would take her in a heartbeat over the Wilson principal. |
Middle school experience? It was a failure from start to finish. |
| She better not be going to Hardy. Ugh. |
This was not my experience with her at Brookland. She was at all of the events and very involved in the day to day. |
| I wish her the best in her new school. Does anyone know who are the candidates for Brookland or who is the new principal? |
How will she and Hardy's "unique culture" mesh? |
But will she keep the school uniforms. |
|
I know someone on the Hardy principal search committee and I heard that the committee's first choice was a man.
Not sure if she was #2 and the man turned down the offer or if any offer was every made to him. Just realized that my non-information is how rumors are spread. |

I'm a former Janney parent. You may not agree with everything Norah Lycknell did, I certainly don't, but you cannot call her lazy.
She is very high quality for DCPS and I would be fine with her coming to Deal or Hardy. She is very intelligent and competent, if a bit headstrong. Not the most personable for sure but I can live with that. |
| no thanks, I really hope (and I am sure I am not the only one) that Ms. Neal will be confirmed as the next principal of Deal. she has years of actual experience as an administrator at a large middle school and she has already been at Deal for a while. she is great, she is well respected, there will be a seamless transition from the former principal to her and she would have little to none learning curve. I really hope DCPS confirms her. |
