New principal for Deal - what about ex-Janney principal?

I really hope DCPS confirms her.

She did a lot more at Janney than just work on the renovation. And now she has middle school experience to boot. I would take her in a heartbeat over the Wilson principal.

How will she and Hardy's "unique culture" mesh?

What the hell does that mean. You people who talk in code are the worst.

I agree and so does my child.

She is very high quality for DCPS and I would be fine with her coming to Deal or Hardy. She is very intelligent and competent, if a bit headstrong.
Not the most personable for sure but I can live with that.

I think you were probably there during the early years of her tenure. As a current Janney parent who has been involved in school-wide events for the past 8 or so years I can tell you that the last 2-3 years of her time at Janney she really phoned it in.
She NEVER answered emails, never attended school-wide events and basically left daily at 2:59pm. The new Janney principal is much more involved in the school and is about 100% more responsive.

Another Janney parent who agrees with this. Never experienced her "phoning it in." We aren't a PTA family, but she stepped in to help when we needed help, unlike the new principal who strikes me as clueless.

No she's not

You people are absolutely interesting. Ms. Lyknell did not panel for Hardy. She wasn't even a consideration and will not be the new Principal. She resigned because it was either that or be publicly fired, so her days with DCPS as an administrator are over.

Ms Lycknell really helped us with our DS when we needed it. We are very grateful to her. She demonstrated consistent care and concerns to us. DCPS's loss!

I say send her to Lafayette and Dr. B to Brookland. Lycknell has experience dealing with Lafayette type parents and Dr. B's management style is better suited to a parent group that is more likely to embrace it and not question her heavy handedness.

I'm not surprised. Ultimately she was lazy.
Good at getting money. Back at all the day-to-day.
To get her to respond to a parent email you had to email multiple times and stop just shy of cc'ing the chancellor's office.
(and I only emailed about twice in 6 years so it wasn't like I was a PITA parent. Everyone else i know had the same experience).

She might actually be going to Brent. Their panel interviewed her last week and ranked her #1.

You are mistaken, lady. She wants to return to the elementary level. DCPS has invited her to interview for several schools, including Brent.

Not true. Lycknell was not going to be fired and was just selected for Brent. Brookland is a mess, but that is not entirely on her.

Why did Lycknell leave Janney?

They asked her to open Brookland.
