Jumping on beds in hotel rooms?

Anonymous
Why is this seen as a cute/fun/acceptable thing?

I just looked at my facebook. Someone I know from high school has a photo of her and her two kids jumping "breaking in the hotel room" (jumping on the bed.) She's not a small person (I'm guessing about 150 lbs.) Her kids are about 8 and 11 years old.
WTH?

Do YOU do this in hotels? Do you jump on beds in your own home?

Your friend is weird. Of course normal people don't do this.

Jumping on beds at 8 is never allowed. When I was 8 I was jumping on my bed and fell off and smacked my head on the wall. Other than a broken arm , dislocated shoulder, and some stitches where my teeth bit down on my lip, I was also knocked out cold and suffered a brain bleed and was on ICP monitoring.

Thankfully, aside from having no memory of the incident and having some hazy memory from that time, I do not have any long term effects.

Obviously we can't bubble wrap out kids, but some accidents are preventable.

Maybe once or twice when drunk.

Not a good idea and I was never allowed to as a kid.

Of course DD jumped on the beds in the hotel room. It was one of the highlights of going on vacation!

My kids have never jumped on beds. A good friend of mine recently posted on fb about her 12 year old daughter who broke her weeks old pottery barn bed after jumping on it and being told repeatedly not too. WTF

My mother always did this. We do not.

Why would someone do this?!

Because they have not been taught to respect other peoples' things. Teaching respect has all but disappeared in contemporary child-rearing.

So what, her and her kids were jumping on beds in a hotel room. No, I've never done it with my kids but it clearly brought her and her kids some joy so what's the harm? And honestly, you sound like a smug b&Tch for saying the bolded. What exactly does her being 150lbs have to do with this at all. And FTR, that does not mean she is "big". Seriously, people need to get a life and stop being so pretentious.

Except for your kids, of course. And OP's kids, and the other posters' kids... Well, I guess respect hasn't "all but disappeared".

I've done it. Two or three jumps, max. The foam mattresses these days aren't that bouncy anyway.

Wowie. All of the joys of childhood are getting whittled away. Repress this fun now and wait to see what happens later.

I have a family member who recently started traveling for work, and she posted a mirror selfie of herself jumping on the bed in pajamas.

I travel often for work too and I've never, ever had the urge to jump on one of the beds. I wouldn't allow my children either.

My kids jump on hotel beds - and their ones at home. Geeez why the heck not? Now I totally draw the line at suitcases on beds.....
