Was in very small print.

Grouping older players by school year places players in a more consistent emotional and physical developmental environment.
School age grouping will help college recruitment. Players of the same graduating class will be participating together in high-level tournaments and showcase matches.

If this is true then grad year based showcases and tournaments will definitely be common in the future. Otherwise why put that out in the world.

They're talking about how with SY and aug birthdays playing up 99% of players on the field will be the same grade in school at showcases.

Last time, 5% of players were misaligned ... An average of 1 per team.

Maybe on B and C teams.

Not on A teams

Well, I'm seeing it happen now.

Not possible in BY

Just the delusions in your head and the things you make up and attempt to pass off as facts.
Club isn't collecting school grade info so they don't know who is where at school to single out August or September kids to stick it to them.

Arlington soccer collected grade info for all current travel players this year.

What's the evidence of this? Sadly, people like to make things up on this board to stir the pot and advance their own argument. Does someone have a link?

No need to shoot the messenger. It happened. Arlington asked all travel players what their grade is at tryouts.
This doesn't sound believable. They haven't had tryouts yet.
Yea but when you register for tryouts they could ask about your grade. I think that’s what they meant.

Probably not because their website still has last year's tryout info up. They don't seem to have registration yet for next year.

USYS did put out information and it does have language that makes it sounds like we will see high level tournament and showcases using grad year.

No way....

It’s almost like someone is making up GY showcases.

This is from an official document put out by USYS. Maybe they won’t have grad year showcases but it sure sounds it.

“School age grouping will help college recruitment. Players of the same graduating class will be participating together in high-level tournaments and showcase matches.”

How many times will you lose before you give up?

Lose what?

That explains a lot.

Keep going make your delusion reality.

Read it and give me your version of what it says? Not understanding why you are taking this so personally.

It says with SY, clubs will be able to group players how they feel within the SY guardrails. It doesnt say anything about GY and allowing older players to play down. That is your delusion that you're trying to convince others of.

You’re correct it does not say grad year.

Players of the same “graduating class” will be participating together in high-level
tournaments and showcase matches.

I reread your comment trying to understand what s delusional person that wants GY would think. I think I've figured it out.

In your head because you want GY so badly youre extrapolating that because they mentioned graduating class that the statement includes all players in that class regardless of age. This is not the case. They're just saying that with the BY to SY change 99% of the players at events (if you include Aug birthdays playing up) will be in the same graduating class.

No this is not the playing down golden ticket you're looking for that will allow your kid to beat up on younger players.

You’re possibly right? I guess the difference is I read that and say why the need to add that language when everything you mentioned was already stated in the info the posted prior. Why did it just say high level tournaments and showcases? Not league play?

Again to me I just thought it was worth mentioning. We shall see what happens.

ECNL is going grad year for showcases Junior/Seniors. Meaning they will separate them for showcase.

If you’re a current Aug/Sept born player they will advise you play with the age group that aligns with your school grade.

Will not be mandatory just recommended to clubs as a player will not attend showcases with their age group team but their grad year team.

ECNL showcases are already GY for Seniors and Juniors. Its called u18/u19 for a reason.

The jump from u17 to U19 solves all of the grade talk play your age group/ skill level the entire way having no u18 specific group already solved all these grade questions business as usual

It depends on how you look at things.

Most college coaches identify the players they want to give offers to Sophmore year. This way they can provide an offer Junior year when they can speak with players. (NCAA rule)

What the play downers / GY showcase people want to do is have their Junior or Senior play in Sophomore showcases so their kid is in the group most closely looked at by college coaches. Leagues already know this is what they want which is why they don't allow playing down Sophmore year but dont care Junior or Senior year hence the u18/19 grouping.

That's combined, they are separating the graduation years for next year not combining them.

Nobody can play down any year though.

Maybe, I dont know if thats going to happen. The reason u18/u19 are combined is because once players sign a commitment offer playing on a club team becomes more of a liability. Meaning what if you got hurt and already signed an offer. Generally once players get to u18/u19 fielding enough players for a single team is difficult.

BS. There aren’t freshmen, sophomore, Junior, or senior showcases. Showcases are age based with a limit on how old a player can be, not how young. Biobanded players is an exception. Not sure if any leagues besides MLS have something similar. You sound like you lack confidence in your dc’s ability to standout. Stop making excuses and blaming better players for grabbing the spotlight that they earn.

Everyone but you understands that college coaches recruit by graduating year. This means they look at players as Freshman Sophmore Juniors and Seniors. It's because it translates into players graduating year and when they can potentially arrive on campus. This is also why college coaches want players grouped by grade at showcases. Which in SY translates into Aug birthdays potentially playing up on their grade in school team if they want to be considered by college coaches.

Only problem with your false statement is, you can't find any college coaches who agree with you.

They care about a small number of individual players already in their recruitment pipeline. That's who they come to watch.

They don't go to showcases to watch hundreds of players. Waste of their time
