As of the day before he was fried, he was still meeting with teachers about scheduling for next year. But it's possible he was told he wouldn't be returning next year and then he decided that means he didn't even want to finish out the year. But if that's the case it's still because of the petition. |
Not one teacher has had a recommendation of how things could have been quickly remediated either. There's a lot of dissatisfaction with "how things went down," but no answers as to what should have been done differently. (There have been basic suggestions like patience! engage with the principal! engage with DCPS! All of which have been happening across the year.) I get why the teachers aren't excited about more change. But no one has had answers of how else our serious concerns could have been resolved. I mean, is it okay for a bunch of kids to hate school because of the chaos and misbehavior because trying to make it better might be inconvenient for some of the teachers? |
Just as a point of correction, our DCPS MS has very organized dismissal procedures specifically intended to make sure kids get home safely. |
DETRITUS, good job Patty. You used a big word!! Don't fall off your high horse struggling so hard. |
+1 The hubris of PTO leadership thinking that this would be well received by teachers is astonishing. They really misread the room and have irrevocably damaged staff/parent relations in the building. We literally want nothing to do with the PTO at this point. Go ahead and respond that “I’m a bad teacher” and that you were just advocating for your child and that is your right and that you’re the only ones who care about Hardy and are saving the school, etc. Whatever. Anything you have to do to avoid 30 seconds of reflection that your actions maybe were a little hysterical, brazen, and unwarranted. And (trigger word) slightly racist, though subconscious (if this helps the whole thing be a bit more palatable to you). |
What exactly are you correcting? Some do, some don't. Not a reason to remove a principal with 5 weeks left. |
That's a fierce retort to being told your post is meaningless drivel written by a barely literate "educator". Well played! |
Serious question for the actual Hardy families who I think have engaged in good faith to explain the reasoning and actions regarding the principal: Do you think the posters purporting to be "teachers" are in fact teachers or just typica DCUM trolls? |
Again, this WAS NOT THE PTO. I’m not sorry teachers are upset. If the accountability upsets them, I hope they do leave. Any decent teacher would be delighted at an involved community holding their schools to a reasonable standard. |
Did you read the thread? PP is correcting the pathetic claim that Hardy chaos should be acceptable to everyone because all DCPS MSs suck. |
Some clearly are teachers; a few seem to just be enjoying rage-filled debate club. Who knows? |
DP. Post-covid, I’m under no illusion that parents and teachers are aligned, or that teachers have the best interests of children at heart. In fact I think I was lectured here about that extensively. |
I don’t think that was the only reason. But it’s one fact that makes me believe the dismissal was fully justified. There’s no excuse not to be organized enough to oversee safe dismissal and arrival. |
None of us have any idea who posted what on this thread, but it would seem perfectly justified to take issue with contributions - purportedly by Hardy staff - like this: "This cohort of PTO parents totally blindsided staff and several kids. This was done unethically and put staff in an awkward situation by sending the petition to their dc gov emails. The fact that they have managed to get the principal out by bullying the system is sad. The IS is also to blame because as a first year principal, his boss was never in the school except three or four times this school year. Does he know any students' names? Does he care? No. He is just kowtowing to this white, privileged, bigoted clan of parents who need to worry about issues such that the school is old and should be modernized like other DCPS schools. Seeing how mean and ruthless these parents can be has me seeing them in a different light. There are ways of doing things. This was not it. Why is everything so secret? Why can't those parents who led the charge identify themselves? Are you afraid of the backlash and repercussions? Sad." |
Again, you completely discredit everything you say with childish accusations of racism. |
