how long do you have to wait at your pediatrician's office?

We had to wait over an hour from the time of our appt. to the time the doctor saw us, and we have a young baby. This has happened pretty much every time I've been to the pediatrician (about 8 times, more or less). Though I like the doctor, entertaining a baby for an hour while my milk jugs explode (holding off on feeding till after vaccines) is no fun, and so I'm thinking of switching practices.

I would never go back again if I had to wait an hour. Our wait is usually around ten minutes.

Horrible. We only wait about 5 minutes or less...even on crazy busy days.

Ten minutes max. Get out of there.

That is not good! We have sometimes been kept waiting for an hour but not when my son was less than a year old. Mention the wait to the doctor and ask if infants could be seen quicker.

We usually only have to wait about 10 minutes, at least out in the main waiting room.

Just curious about your comment about holding off on feeding until after vaccines. I've never heard of that - am I supposed to be doing that?

5-10 minutes

I rarely wait at all. I go to a sole practitioner who we love and I get the first appointment of the day.

5-10 minutes usually. I have had a sick appointment where they squeezed me in near the end of the day, and even though we were escorted into the examination room quickly, it did take another 20 minutes or so to see the doc. But that was only a one-time thing (so far).

I'd probably search around for another pedi. It's one thing to tolerate that when it's just you, it can become almost unbearable at times when it's you and DC. Especially if they are not feeling well.

I think she holds on for confort purposes...like if child is crying after the vaccines, nursing will sooth him.

If it is comfort nursing, it does not have to be nutritional. Nursing for feeding prior to shots is unlikely to inhibit a baby's willingness to nurse for comfort after.

Ah. Gotcha. Makes sense.

I've never waited longer than 10 minutes, even with a last minute sick baby visit.

The most I was kept waiting was around an hour and a half. We're not at that practice anymore.
