Langley to add PK3 classroom

Anonymous
Great news-- Langley may be able to add a third PK3 classroom if a few more students enroll by May 30. Those of you on the waitlist, or who are still looking for a spot, please contact the school at 202-724-4223 for enrollment information.

Langley has been a great experience for our family, especially because of the excellent PK3 and PK4 teachers. Next year, Langley will be offering Creative Curriculum for preschoolers, as well as programs Foodprints, Playworks, and Little Friends for Peace. We have an active group of parents supporting the school and raising funds.

We are thrilled to be able to welcome more families. Any questions, please feel free to ask!

I love this. I hope we are able to do this soon

Have they gone through the whole 18 person waitlist at this point?

Or do they need people who have been offered seats to give them an answers one way or another?

Not sure how far they have gone into the waitlist, but I know it has grown beyond 18 people due to siblings and post-lottery additions. They are going to call with offers in the morning. Anyone on the list or who wants to enroll, please just call the front desk.

I think some people were unable to obtain aftercare at other schools, so they are looking around for other options. Langley has beforecare and aftercare through Springboard and DCPS so there is enough aftercare for everyone.

Yay! I seriously needed some good news today. DD gets to go to preschool with her friends!

until 30% of the families get offers from their 1-10 schools.

Langley has a huge advantage going with its aftercare. We might get off a couple waitlists but they aren't viable options if aftercare isn't available.

Oh shush, that is already factored in. If it doesn't work out, fine, but at least people are trying. There is no need to br a downer.

+1. Can't it be a good thing that they are offering it? The system needs more seats and having more kids is part of what helps a school succeed. Three PK3s is the ideal size-- turns into two PK4s perfectly.

Langley is the better option for Walker-Jones and Noyes zones, and people tend to add it after striking out elsewhere. There are at least 14 kids still on the WL or they wouldn't be adding.

Can you really just call the school to enroll? Ideally, the registrar would tell people to add the school on MSDC and then pull from there. That would ensure that kids are dropped from waitlists at any schools they rank lower and allow for better data to inform next year's lottery.

You call the school and they walk you through it. They need to enroll people ASAP to move forward with hiring a teacher, so they are trying to help as much as possible

No you can't call and enroll. Add to your list if you didn't rank it first time.

We added Langley post lottery and are still in the 20s. No movement today.

I would not expect much motion until people actually file enrollment paperwork and maybe not until they actually go in and alter the numbet of classrooms. A new classroom is 14 seats so you definitely stand a chance.
