I'm shocked! He just did a show last night and was later found hanging in the bathroom. Such a big fan of his. Excellent musician and singer.

Adding a link from a Detroit article that mentions the possible suicide:

| Devastating. Such a haunting and powerful voice, and unique musician. I had a crush on him for decades |
| Such a shame! I was a big hip hop head back then, but still liked Soundgarden and later Audioslave. RIP. |
| Heartbreaking. |
| Who is he? |

This is incredibly sad. Even my toddlers love CC because...Hunger Strike (among others).
Was not expecting to see this thread on DCUM. Makes me think we should all get together for a play date in honor of CC's life and being cool moms with good taste in music. |
| Haven't heard of him but always sad when someone commits suicide. |
Do a YouTube search of: Eddie vedder Chris Cornell hunger strike He was a great performer and had a very powerful voice. I was just watching his videos a couple days ago...crazy |
| Really sad news. He had a lot of talent, was still working....this is just a terrible shame really. |
I'm the OP. I know right? My brother actually texted me the news a bit before 6 this morning and after reading the news, came over to dcum to see if anyone had something to say about it, but no, so hey, first post I ever started here, and sadly it's about this. Anyway, yes, set up the date and I'll bring my old tapes and proudly wear a flannel tied around my waist. I was sooo into the Seattle grunge scene back then. Now I feel like there's just no one left. Door to my youth is closing. Someone do a well check on Eddie Vedder! |
| His most recent solo album got panned by music critics. I hope this did not contribute. He was a genius. Loved those vocals! |
He's one of the seeds on my Pandora playlist
Tremendous talent. |

I am actually sad about this. He had a wonderful voice and seemed like a smart guy. I remember watching him on the Pearl Jam Documentary Cameron Crowe did (Twent?) and thinking he came off very well.
Sad he died and it was suicide. |
| My high school crew was big into Soundgarden, but I couldn't get in to them, I was more phish, but this is shocking. Especially to hear that he just performed. |
