Gunston MS Afterschool Activities

Hi everyone, My son will start Gunston MS next year. He has always been in extended care in elementary school. What are the options at Gunston for after school. I believe there is the traditional extended day (check in and check out process), but I'm not clear on the other options. Do some of the kids not enroll in the extended day (check in and check out), but still participate in after school activities? What is the latest time that the kids can be picked up if they are not in extended day or if they are in extended day? Any advice, information would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely talk the school about the specifics at Gunston. But, if it's similar to TJ, very few kids are in 'check in'. You don't have to be in check-in to participate in any after school clubs, activities, etc. Most kids either go directly home after school or go to a club meeting/sport/etc. and then go home. If they are bus riders, they then take the late bus.

OP is talking about middle school and in middle school, the students absolutely have to check in/check out for afterschool activities.

OP is talking about middle school and in middle school, the students absolutely have to check in/check out for afterschool activities.

The middle school "extended day"/"childcare" program in MS is called "Check In". That's different from checking yourself in and out of various activities, which, yes, all participants need to do. But you don't have to be enrolled in "Check In"

My son is at Swanson and they cannot just stay after school. They have to be in a club or with a teacher. He can wait outside.
