Whether you used to attend a different church, or none at all, or you have gone to the same church for decades, why? What do you like about it, and what keeps you coming back? |
Faithful to preach the Gospel, intentional in discipleship, emphasis on relationships
Honestly? To appease my wife and I can usually stomach the sermons. In my opinion, marriage involves a lot of comprise and this is a fair one to make.
Different church. I like it for the religious education and the focus on activism and social justice.
The liturgy and theology.
Catholic. Because my self esteem is not low enough.
To be part of a community that goes beyond just family, work and neighbors. We support each other in rough times and celebrate joys.
|
To meet women...
|
Assimilation
Walking distance, kid friendly, gay friendly. It's not the church I grew up in but it's one I am able to overcome my inertia to go to regularly because of those things.
Nearby, wonderful people, large congregation, holding fast on biblical truths (including gay marriage) -- for the time being, at least -- despite denominational and other pressure.
To see my friends. To have quiet time while they educate my children. Because I enjoy the rhythm over a year and it's wonderful to celebrate the good and offer comfort during the bad.
Because they love me for me and they enjoy hearing me play the piano and sing even though I am tattooed, pierced, and I wear only black clothing. The church I was raised in think that I am going to hell just because I wear pants and cut my hair. The rest of my appearance just clarifies it for them. Most of my mother's family (including my younger brother) either do not speak to me or are barely civil to me because I left that church.
Church calms me down and I am able to mediate and think out my issues when attending. Also like the sense of community.
I like the sense of community and how welcoming everyone was. The preacher is not my favorite and kinda boring but love the fellow parishoners so I continue to go there.
