ECNL moving to school year not calendar

What would ECNL do if GA chooses to stay BY but with the same biobanding rules as MLS Next?

Writing would be on the wall where NWSL Next will happen.

My point being that there's many different possible outcomes if leagues choose to define their own eligibility windows.

What about this one? There's a very good chance that leagues let their olders age out as BY + only implement SY for youngers. Nobody is considering this.

Actually, one of the Arlington coaches told me exactly this. The the kids beyond the initial HS trap year will remain birth year.

Haha, Q2 parents are desperate for any hope.

ECNL will do so for All ages, and a smooth transition will start earlier than 26/27. Let's wait for US Club release.

lol, you nailed. NOBODY is considering this. Because there is no way treat ECNL age groups differently. You'll end up with overlap and chaos for what reason? To satisfy BY parents. Its over guys, they SY victory lap is imminent.

The Arlington coach told you that directly? Or you heard it from his moms cousin's neighbor? Its important we get to get our unsubstantiated rumors right on this thread. C'mon, you can do better BY'ers.

Until we know where US Club stands on this it’s hard to speculate what will happen. Because if it’s true that MLSN wants to stay birth year and ECNL wants GY/SY model. Then clubs are going to have to manage separate systems which could be why they felt like clubs needed extra time. We might end up with a surf cup model that had BY and SY brackets. Like we see with a 2013 team playing 11v11 but it’s only for 2013s.

Maybe non academy clubs will have a BY and SY top teams which more teams is more money. And kids can cross play between the two.

I'd like some advice. High level...should I consider a bad ECNL team (bottom 25%) or GA or ECRL for my daughter. She's an incredible player, 12 years old. Could make any team but we can't drive 2 hours one way for the best teams and we aren't moving for soccer. Need insight from those in this world please.

No, it keeps teams together that have been playing with each other for multiple years.

Also thers a good chance that u14 and up trapped players won't want to play down even if given the option.

You don't know this yet because you're a ulittle parent.

Play with the best team that practices closest to your house.

GA (good team) over ECRL any day of the week.

Yes, told me directly. Said that the older kids are too far established in their age group, so the current plan is for the high school teams to remain in tact and U14 downward to incur change to SY. This was a few weeks before the pre-Thanksgiving announcement by US Soccer.

Why hasn’t US club updated their age group chart for 25/26? They went out of their way to put TBD before the vote and have not updated since?

Except the whole reason to remove trapped players is for recruiting in the high school sophomore and junior years. Also not many teams in this area are established and have been playing together for years. Almost all ECNL teams have decent turnover every tryout period.

So you're saying that teams aren't "established" in NVA and therfore they replace players every year via tryouts.

And these are the team recruiters will be looking to recruit players from?

Sounds to me like SY vs BY doesn't really matter.
