Cute. Think if you will still think it is cute in 3-5 years though.

to me kinda fussy. funky jewelry would be a better investment imo. Or, for jackets, maybe something like this:

very cute, but I am wondering if that ruffle in boiled wool might feel a little cumbersome. Have you tried it on?

OP Here - thanks for the jcrew link - very cute and probably more wearable...will you be my personal shopper? any more suggestions? 5"7" average weight, size 6-8, broad shoulders, narrow torso, curvy hips..

Cute, BUT.... It's the kind of thing you could only wear occasionally, and you probably won't like it in another year or two.

I'd invest in a cute shirt to go under a basic blazer or that could be worn on its own. More versatile. Or the J Crew blazer, above. I have a velvet JCrew blazer from last year. Goes with jeans or work pants. Classic lines, but more fun than wool gab.

Sigh. This is what's wrong with DC.

FWIW, I like the JCrew option, too, but strongly prefer the Anthro.

I like both, but if you are trying to "jazz up" your basics I would definitely go for the Anthro

What is wrong exactly? That someone would wear it three years later?

I love the style of the anthro jacket but it is a knit (wool) not a classic jacket. For me it just wouldn't work or look as crisp, particularly as time goes on. It is really a sweater mroe than a jacket. I like it, but it isn't the same thing.

That everything purchased needs to be bland enough to ensure wearability multiple years after the season in which the item is purchased.

Boiled wool jackets generally do not have a knit appearance or texture. I think the anthro piece is a nice and unexpected take on the traditional boiled wool jacket. And while it is cute to look at, I wonder if while wearing that ruffle might get on your nerves. I would definitely go to the store and try it on as opposed to just ordering it.

And regarding liking it for several years, I have a red Jones New York cardigan with a similar ruffle that I bought about 7 years ago and I still enjoy wearing it in the fall/early winter.
