Only surprise to me - DCI offered 25 French seats for 9th grade

Hyde offered K slots.

Shepherd is only Deal feeder to still offer first round OOB slots in several grades.

Latin offered 20 seats for 9th this year.

Last year they only offered 10, the year before 5.

Are they growing the high school or experiencing more attrition?

Can it be right that SWW-FS only offered seats in PK3 and not in any other grade?

Many schools do this until they see what their attrition will be (note: Breakthrough)

That's increasingly the norm at DCPS schools. Because they don't want to make seats available to OOB students only to have new IB families show up in August.

But it is different than the last couple years for SWW-FS>

I wonder why this is? I know DCPS' allowable class size increases slightly in the upper grades. Still, if that were the reason, seems all schools would similarly offer a couple of slots per grade?

Do these include for siblings? yes, right?

So they just kind of hold their upper grade slots until after May 1? I'm confused.

A school like SWW at FS may hold slots until August, and only make offers as current students commit to other schools.

A school like Breakthrough will likely do the same, but start the process in May since they don't have to worry about last minute IB families.

DCPS schools may hold their upper grade slots until school starts in August - they want the flexibility to see who enrolls in-bounds due to moving, etc before they start taking OOB kids.
