Expectant and Postpartum Moms
| Has anyone gotten pregnant while using run of the mill KY (not spermicide)? The reason I ask is that we're TTC baby #3 and having trouble --- and KY is the only difference between when we TTC last time around (that, plus age). On the TTC board folks said you shouldn't use KY --- but if it doesn't contain spermicide, why not? The reason I'm posting here is to see if any pregnant women actually used it while TTC. Thanks! |

Have two DDs and was using KY both times. First time we weren't officially TTC so I didn't really think anything of it -- second time, I figured - well it didn't hinder us before.... and voila got pregnant with DD 2! Best of luck to you on #3.
At first I was thinking you want to have a baby in Kentucky???!! LOL. |
| Use Pre-Seed. It is a lubricant designed for people TTC. You can buy it at CVS. |
| I did not use KY when I got pregnant. I was advised not to use it while trying to get pregnant b/c supposedly it's bad for sperm quality/kills sperm. A lot of people swear by Pre-seed, a sperm friendly lubricant (http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/pre-seed.html), you might want to try that... |

I think that if are "normal" in all aspects "down there" - good cervical much with nice PH PLUS good sperm count, good motility and morphology, etc, USING KY won't make any difference. However, if you have anything that is off, it can impair fertility because for what I read it makes traveling hard for the sperms.
You coulod use Proseed (sp?) or even egg white. And btw, people can develop fertility problems after having had no problems conceiving before. |
| Can you buy Pre-Seed locally in CVS? |
| Pre-seed is only sold in certain specialty pharmacies, it's hard to find in store. Your best bet is to order it online from their website:http://www.preseed.com/ |
| Three pregnancies, all using KY. All were intentional. |
| I bought Pre-Seed online, Amazon or Drugstore.com |

Pre-seed is AMAZING! I know I sound like a spokesperson, but my DH and I were trying to concieve for a long time, and then I tried pre-seed, and we were pregnant within 2 months.
I figure it was worth the hassle and money of ordering online. Randomly, when I was on vacation recently, I noticed a pharmacy that carried it. I think if you go on their website you can locate stores. |

Another vote for pre-seed. We just got pg using it. One warning - you don't need to use very much. Try just a little and add more if needed. I got it on amazon.
KY - it isn't exactly birth control but it is not sperm-friendly. GL!

| Expecting number 4 all were ky |

Random hijack here: for those using Pre-Seed, what was the sex of the baby you conceived? Just curious!
FWIW I'd be thrilled with either a boy or a girl, just curious to hear if Pre-Seed predisposes you to conceiving a baby of a particular sex. |
| 17:12 here - we don't know the gender yet. Too early to tell. I read a ton on it and I never read about any gender pre-dispositions, but now I'm curious too. |

16:32 here, we are having a boy.
I also don't think KY inhibits you from getting pregnant but perhaps if you are having slow sperm or some other deterrent, it helps move things along a tiny percentage... and believe me, that tiny percentage helps! |
