| I pick up my son (24months) at 5:45 pm every day. Yesterday he had an enourmous pee diaper and a wet pair of pants. He also had a diaper rash, which he is not normally prone to have. Now, I'm definitely guilty of going a few hours without changing him, but this seemed a bit much. We generally like our daycare and teachers. I don't want to alienate them by complaining. Is it worth a mention or just let it go? |

I'd talk to the teachers. You can make sure that they know it's on your radar without lots of complaining or accusing them of something.
"Hey teacher, I noticed that Larlo was getting a bit of a red bum the other day. Could you keep an eye on that? Maybe use extra cream." |
|
If it happens once, not a huge deal.
For the next few days check while you are still there, and ask them to change him before you go home. "Hey Jimmy's diaper is pretty wet, can we get a fresh one before we go please?". My daycare changes my two year old'd diaper about 30 mins before I arrive normally. Occasionally it hasn't happened. Not a huge deal at all. |
| If you don't say something what will prevent them from doing it in the future? You can say it nicely but let them know you are watching. |
I generally agree with this, but are you asking daycare people to change a kid's diaper while you're standing there? |
| I think it is a somewhat big deal. How often during the day does this happen? I would absolutely mention it (kindly) to the teachers and do a couple surprise visits (if possible) to see how often it happens during the day. |
I think the point is that it's best to mention it in the moment. You can change the diaper, but be like "hey, his pants are wet, I'm going to change them, but can you make sure to check his diaper pretty often, because he will get a rash." When you come back later, it always seems like a bigger deal, since you've obviously been thinking about it. |
1) Your child is TWO. Not "24 months." 2) Speak to your daycare about how regularly they are changing him. Tell them that he has diaper rash that will need to be attended to MORE regularly. Ask questions about what the diapering/toilet training routine is at the daycare. Was this an unusual situation in which they were out and about and were delayed getting back, or were they just not paying attention? |
| OP, do you mean Friday? Yesterday was Easter Sunday--No way your kid was in daycare on Sunday. Just saying you could be labeled a troll. |
If someone would troll about this...they REALLY need a hobby. |
Not OP but oh, shut up! There is a huge difference between 24 and 35 months yet both are TWO. OP probably specified to explain that her kid is not yet potty trained and/or doesn't have the words to signal a child care worker that he is wet. |
LOL I'm sorry, I'm in a different time zone (not in DC). |
Yes, it's their job. |
Yes I ask them to do it. The diapers are kept in the back and when I come to get my kids from work, I don't have any on me. Unless I've pre-planned ahead and am going somewhere else with them and I happen to have them in the car. Why would this be a big deal? |
Is it possible that he just had a big pee? I know that sometimes the kids have a fresh diaper and 45 mins later it's soaked. |
