Most overrated kid-friendly attraction in DC?

Anonymous
I was really super let down by the Claude Moore colonial farm. The actors were really bored and uninterested in talking to us our our child. It was a big letdown.

Any others?

Air and Space on the Mall. I want to love it but most of it is really boring.

Cherry blossoms. So overrated, so crowded, so underwhelming.

Oh wow, my kids love that place! We've been for both the spring and the autumn fair and have always had a great time!

This is not the most overrated kid-friendly attraction. It is the most overrated attraction, period.

The Zoo.

I don't think it's super-highly "rated," but the carousel on the Mall is garbage. Okay, not garbage, but it's the shabbiest, slowest, shortest, most expensive carousel in the area IMO and in the opinion of my 4-year-old carousel enthusiast. Glen Echo, even Wheaton are light years ahead, and even the National Zoo carousel is cheaper.

The Playseum. Ick.

I think Air and Space is REALLY more for older kids (and probably not all of them). My 4 yo loves loves loves museums (we go almost weekly) and even more "boring"/dry exhibits, but she can still only enjoy maybe 10% of Air and Space. I think it's a lot more appealing when you are at least 7 or 8 and/or extraordinarily interested in the subject matter.

I was going to say this, even though I feel bad for the nice owner, and my kid still really likes it. But I'm not sure it counts as overrated, when so many people Yelp about its... umm... threadbareness. It does feel overpriced for what you get. But then again, my kid really does like it, so go figure.

That's crazy talk. It's a free, large wooded place for my crazy toddler to walk/run herself into a sleepy daze.

+1 Why is the zoo, of all places, overrated?

Because you have to pay $20 for parking and $6 for a basic hot dog!

^^Actual complaints I've heard.

(Never mind that there is no admission fee, saving you a bare minimum in other cities of $60 for a family of four-- maybe more than $80. Never mind that r/t public transport for four people anywhere in a major city is going to run you at least $15, and parking anywhere in a major city generally runs you at least $15 for six hours, if not much more. Never mind that same hot dog would still cost you $3 on the street and you're not forced to buy it anyway. Etc., etc.)

Huh? We park on the street and pack our own lunch when we go to the zoo.

You don't have to pay $6 for a hot dog. You CHOOSE to pay $6 for a hot dog. The parking is expensive and limited, I'll give you that, but it's also in the city. Drive to the metro and use public transit.
