Niece is applying and has done work in NY for two agencies. She does not work hard at it, but it paid well.
She wants to put that work experience on a college application. I say no. What do you think? Also, my dd also models and is about 4 years younger. I have told dd that it is nothing to be "proud" of as an accomplishment, it is just a fun way to go to the city. |
| Sure why not |
|
Have the job-title be less specific
Have a brief description mention modeling |
| If she's made money at it then why not? Some of DCs friends did some modeling in high school. They both went to good colleges and now have good jobs. Nothing to be ashamed of. |
| If she was paid, then yes. It's helpful to have real world employment experience. |
Adding to this: working at modeling, like any other work, means that the kid has experience with showing up on time, working with other people, following instructions and going on interviews. It's relevant work experience/soft skills that will transfer to other environments. I would definitely list it. Nothing worse than an UMC with no work experience. |
| Yes, I would. |
| Definitely and she should explain how it influenced her if it did in any way. If she's articulate she can make it a hook. I've seen it happen with other kids/other situations. It's a unique experience for her age. |
| I did. I worked from 8-16 as a model and actress. |
Yes. This. |
| yes! |
| Of course!! |
| If she has been modeling to fund her college career, sure why not. Otherwise really no. |
| Is she hot? |
Why don't you think her holding a job and working with people many years older than her, being responsible and committed isn't something to be proud of? Is it because you think it is only about looks? That's warped. |
