Agree. I don't understand you at all, OP. |
This is a pretty demeaning comment. Legitimate modeling is nothing to be ashamed of and in fact something to be proud of. If they shouldn't be proud of it, why are you allowing them to do it? That doesn't make sense to me. |
| I call troll! You sound stupid if you are real OP. Of course she should list it. It's a job and shows discipline |
OP here, you need to see the scene. It was cute when they were younger, but now it is a sort of random choice in terms of who gets work. It is more work for the parents ferrying the kids back and forth. And yes, it is all about looks. That's why they do it. We can laugh at it in our home or inner circle, but I can't see them pulling it off convincing anyone that it was a professional pursuit. |
| You have mental issues. |
| My college age son wants to model. He works hard at nutrition and bodybuilding to get that kind of body, but I just find it creepy. I guess it's a double standard, but I am assuming it is not a healthy environment. |
Is your niece starving herself to maintain her looks? Is she self-absorbed? These are the issues, not being a model generally. If she does have body issues around being a model then that is something that can be discussed in an essay or if she doesn't have the issue, she can talk about how hard it was to resist constantly dieting. If she has spent a significant part of her life being a model and doesn't include it, that also says something. Colleges like to see commitment to things over time and growth and I would think modeling is a great example of that. |

Let's be honest: There are some negative connotations associated with models. They are widely perceived as living shallow, privileged lives and are often assumed to be unintelligent. I know that's not fair, but that's the stereotype.
Is there a way of saying "model" without using that word? Maybe she was a "spokesperson" or a "brand ambassador"? I know that's a stretch, but I'd see if it's possible to spin things in a way that emphasizes the positive aspects, while still being honest. |
| Sure, as long as it was non-sketchy and with a legitimate agency and all child work laws were followed. |
This. |
