Kaiser insurance - how many attempts do I have left?

Anonymous
I have 50% coverage from Kaiser and it says 3 attempts per lifetime. I was successful in my first IVF and I was also successful for my FET, but miscarried at 8 weeks. I'm not even sure if Kaiser would consider the FET as a success.. in any case, how many attempts do I have left? Someone told me that because my first IVF was successful, that is not counted in the 3 attempts. Please help me understand this.

Call your insurance? Don't think there is any other way to know for sure. One person. Here might say one thing but may not be true for you. Good luck&

That makes no sense at all. Call them.

Agree that this makes no sense. To me, it sounds like you have 1 attempt left, assuming FETs are counted as an attempt.

Success is usually live birth

I know this is a little old, but in case you're still reading, this may be true. Does it say 3 attempts per "lifetime" or "per live birth"? I have Kaiser and it says "3 attempts per live birth up to $100,000 benefit lifetime max." My first IVF resulted in a son which means that the clock was re-set to 3 attempts for baby #2 (which we are just starting to try for now). My understanding is that both fresh cycles and FETs count towards your 3 attempts, but I was told that a freeze-all fresh cycle (which is what we are hoping to do now) does not count as one of the 3 attempts (so long as it doesn't go to transfer). But don't take my word for it, check with Kaiser, though I found it easier to let SGF investigate the nuances of my coverage....
