| We already know about some issues but want to do a full neuropsych. We live in NOVA, but can travel. I want someone very patient. My son has major issues with evaluations. |
| I am also in desperate need of this for my child. |
| We just used Rebecca Resnik for our 6 yr old. She specializes in ADHD. |
| SHe has really bad reviews on here. Anyone else? |
| Mindwell Psychology |
| I'm 12:15. FWIW we used her at the recommendation of our educ attorney and education consultant. I've seen the recent posts and I read them with curiousity. I had not searched her on this board before making an appointment-and if I had I likely would have been swayed to look elsewhere. With that said-she did a really thorough, comprehensive eval on my little guy. She was personable, warm and did all her own testing. I don't usally post on DCUM but I felt compelled because of the completely opposite experience we had with her. Just my two sense. |
| We took our almost 4 year old to Children's. saw a NP but she was great. |
| OP here. Question about getting a neuropsych. Will they tell us say the results of the WISC right away? Or will we not be told until we receive the report? Thank you! |
| Depends on the evaluator |
I'm the PP who recommended Mindwell. We didn't get immediately but report was ready in about 10 days. |
Okay. We are going to go to Mindwell and I think will do a developmental exam at this time, rather than a full neuropsych but we will see. I may ask them to tell me the IQ score right away because that is something I am particularly anxious about - I will see what they think about that. |
Could you please share her name? |
| Kennedy krieger |
Don't go to her if your kid has fine motor. She doesn't know how to compensate for a child with these difficulties. Dr. Black would be a much better choice. |
OP can you give more details on your son having issues with evaluations. Do you mean his ability to sit through an assessment? If this is the case, I totally get what you're saying. My now 14yr old DS had his first evaluation at age 7. Significant ADHD, combined with delayed gross + fine motor. How did you get the current ADHD diagnosis? Was it through your pediatrician? In my non-medical opinion, 5yrs of age is a bit young for a full evaluation. I'm not saying it can't be done or hasn't been done, but you are less likely to get an accurate and complete set of results from a 5yr old with significant ADHD. I know this because my DS had a really hard time getting through his evaluation at age 7, with a couple of the tests being "inconclusive" because of his inability to complete the tasks....and this was with his evaluation being spread out over 3 days. Just something to consider. If you really want to get a full eval now, I would suggest either Jody Bleiberg in Bethesda, http://www.bethesdaneuropsychology.com ...or Daisy Pasqualavaca in DC. http://www.pascualvaca.com Both of these doctors are excellent and very patient. Also from my personal experience I would suggest also getting a comprehensive OT Evaluation, and speech evaluation. |
