We already know about some issues but want to do a full neuropsych. We live in NOVA, but can travel. I want someone very patient. My son has major issues with evaluations.
OP can you give more details on your son having issues with evaluations. Do you mean his ability to sit through an assessment? If this is the case, I totally get what you're saying. My now 14yr old DS had his first evaluation at age 7. Significant ADHD, combined with delayed gross + fine motor. How did you get the current ADHD diagnosis? Was it through your pediatrician? In my non-medical opinion, 5yrs of age is a bit young for a full evaluation. I'm not saying it can't be done or hasn't been done, but you are less likely to get an accurate and complete set of results from a 5yr old with significant ADHD. I know this because my DS had a really hard time getting through his evaluation at age 7, with a couple of the tests being "inconclusive" because of his inability to complete the tasks....and this was with his evaluation being spread out over 3 days. Just something to consider. If you really want to get a full eval now, I would suggest either Jody Bleiberg in Bethesda, http://www.bethesdaneuropsychology.com ...or Daisy Pasqualavaca in DC. http://www.pascualvaca.com Both of these doctors are excellent and very patient. Also from my personal experience I would suggest also getting a comprehensive OT Evaluation, and speech evaluation.
