How to stop other travellers eat your food supplies?

His mom did bring bacon, but she never cooked it because he ate our bacon all the time. She cooked oatmeal.

Waaaaaiiiiiiit just a minute OP. In the beginning you claimed you didn't want to bring all this extra food and THAT was the issue. So now mom brings bacon that solves that issue. Then you said you don't want to cook everyday - so who cooked the bacon lardass' mom brought? You should have hinted to lardass or his mom that it was time. Also, do you feed your kids bacon EVERYDAY on vacay? I'm sorry but that truly is to much processed meat.

I swear a lot of your kids must be so rude and ugly.

The idea of saying no to a friend’s hungry kid is the definition of ugly and rude.

Why not have the kids make breakfast together. The oldest can supervise, the parents sleep in.

They’re not saying “no food for you!” They’re saying “Your family’s having oatmeal”

BIG difference.

Also, according to OP it’s the kid’s mom who’s asking if he can eat the others bacon, which is pretty clueless.

Yes, this thread is about a grownup not acting like one.

Can OP not able to say “sorry Sally, we cannot share our bacon. U are more than welcome to cook your bacon?” Why remain being sort of doormats? Bring ur courage!!

Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?

I mean, you’re standing at the stove cooking bacon and you’re going to tell someone to open their bacon and cook their own once you’re done cooking?

Pro tip: a normal person would share and simply tell Jane and Paul that she’s going to cook up their bacon for the group when she needs more the next day. Adulting isn’t hard.

It’s not about money. Really!
It’s just I don’t want to bring groceries for 10 people, I just want to bring enough for our family of 3. We are already sharing dinners.

You need to share all meals. Your whole “I explicitly told them I’m feeding only us for breakfast and lunch” is off putting.

I can understand a situation where somebody is on a special diet due to allergies or diabetes or something

Other than that I really don't understand why you would go on vacation with people where you have a shared kitchen but not shared food. If you start pulling that kind of crap on me I wouldn't want to go on vacation with you ever again.

I empathize with OP. My friend lets her kids eat two portions of say bacon while she is cooking for a group, then the kid eats once it’s on the table. The other kids get less. It’s incredibly annoying because everyone is hungry!

There is a difference between saying no to a food insecure (or legitimately food-poor/starving) kid and a kid who has food resources but lazy parents - so he prefers your food.

Are you really this dense?

I wonder what’s wrong with people like you, where you’re so worried about someone else eating a piece of your bacon?

I mean, call me crazy, but I’m perfectly fine with any kid I know digging into the food I prepared.

Why are you so weird and uptight?

She’s the one cooking it. Next time, you cook.

Well...in the end did you have fun? How about the kids? Did they have fun? Did you have fun watching the kids get along and having fun?

I love watching my kids having a great time with their friends because it's usually short lived.

Kids are ravenous, it's part of life.

OMg people please. If you cook it, it will smell up the whole house and everyone will want it. MAKE PLENTY and don't be stingy.
