I had never thought of this, but do you think she could have told him later than age 8? What about 30? What about 26? 21? I think it's a blind spot in the show. I kept thinking age 8, or now. But we don't see why she didn't tell him before 36....

I think she got caught in the lie. Because to introduce them meant explaining that she knew him all along.

No doubt. Mandy Moore's young trying to play an older woman. When she's dressed as the older version of her character she just looks like her younger self in glasses.
