Where did you absolutely hate?

AGREED!! WAY too crunchy- the shops were awful and the food was meh- not high end at all either

White Duck Taco is fabulous
Champagne bookstore so fun
A few very good restaurants

Not high end means you are not in the 1 percent are you.

You didn’t like it because of liberalness.

Asheville has some great views and it’s a lovely get away for a weekend.

Hiking in the area is great, sliding rock so fun not that far.

Luray caverns

And all of New Jersey

This is like saying you went to some random industrial towns in Europe and saying how bad they are.

Correction. This is like saying "I'm American and I went to some random industrial towns..."

It means nothing without saying where in Europe you are from. And yeah, those places are pretty horrible. I hope you didn't travel all this way to figure that out, Vadim.

Chinquoteague is a coastal town
Luray Caverns are deep in the country

Richmond &. Charlotte are not remotely industrial

Good to see the American brain force is out in full tonight.

I know this exists, but it destroys my vacation to think about the starving children beggers while I'm trying to relax and enjoy myself or while im buying a nice sundress. The scenery, other than the flavelas, is very pretty, but a culture where that is acceptable is ugly.

I would suggest virtual vacations with those virtual reality goggles if reality disturbs you so much.

Or she could just not vacation anyplace with slums — it’s not actually that hard! I have no desire to go to Rio, in part because I’m just not a huge fan of big cities anyway.

Luray has nothing but the cavern. I’d do the caverns and leave.

Chincoteague is a small costal town with tons of horse flies, meh seafood restaurants and cheesy little shops.

Tahiti.

Don't.

Why not Tahiti?

What did Malta hate? Cruise ships and over tourism?

Side note, people in Vienna, Austria are like that 'Uber driver didn't say a word and didn't show any interest in me. Five stars.' joke.

Five stars from me as well.

What?!?? Rome is utterly fascinating! I’ve been 6+ times and fall more in love whenever I visit.

I grew up poor and our only vacations were camping or to drive South to Visit grandparents.

Now I love traveling and have been all over the world and can honestly say I’ve never HATED any place. I may have found some spots dull/uninspiring/etc but I didn’t hate anywhere.

I’m from NY and love NJ. DH hates all of NJ. He also hates Philly.

My Asian immigrant parents loved Luray Caverns and Shenandoah. They grew up in a very crowded city.

This has been a fun read.

I always joke with my husband that I'm glad he went to India before we met so I never have to go. You couldn't pay me enough money to go there.

There are far prettier, nicer, cleaner, more interesting cities in Europe than Rome. Rome is dingy and dirty.

US culture is no different and in fact, arguably worse as we are so rich yet accept homelessness and poverty as inevitable.

Nah, we are geographically separated so it doesn't ruin my experience.

Gross that you are saying those kid’s hunger ruins your day out shopping for sundresses. Wow, just wow.

Why don’t you do something so that fewer kids are hungry?

You know that millions of children grow up in poverty, right? This is not about the “culture “ in one country?????

Do you contribute to charities?
Vote for politicians who would pass a living wage bill?

I probably do more than most people here. I donate about 75k to charity a year. I still don't want this in my face when I'm on vacation. So Brazil socks for this! So does Buenos Aires and Lima.
