To win reelection, Biden will need to retain the “blue wall” of states — Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania — he flipped in 2020. Trump holds a 2-point lead in Michigan and a 3-point lead in Pennsylvania, though each has a significant portion of undecided voters.
Biden also carried Georgia, Nevada and Arizona in the last election, all of which have stronger Trump support, according to the poll. Trump leads in Georgia by 3 points, in Nevada by 4 points and in Arizona by a significant 5-point margin. |
The new Wall Street Journal poll of seven swing states has plenty of bad news for President Biden, who is trailing in six of the seven most important battlegrounds of the 2024 election. More broadly, it also has one piece of potentially devastating news for the party Biden leads: The pillars that hold up the Democratic coalition are showing fractures. |
In March 2024, polls in swing states Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin showed incumbent President Joe Biden trailing former President Donald Trump in all but two of the seven states surveyed. According to the survey, Donald Trump and Joe Biden were tied in Michigan and Pennsylvania. |
According to reports, Biden himself reportedly has grown increasingly frustrated and worried over his re-election efforts.
NBC News previously reported that he began to "shout and swear" in a January meeting when informed that his poll numbers had dipped in the battleground states of Michigan and Georgia over his handling of the Israel-Hamas war, a lawmaker familiar with the situation told the publication. Biden's alleged outburst came as he has long believed he is not getting the credit he deserves in several areas, the outlet noted. Privately, another source told the publication that he regularly pushes aides about what parts of his accomplishments he should highlight in different states. The report also said he is surrounded by "protective aides who want to minimize the chances of a flub," something he has dealt with in recent months as he has made several blunders that have called into question his mental acuity. |
Biden's frustration follows other Democrats fretting over his age and energy. According to past reports, he has consistently held several closed-door meetings with his top donors to alleviate their anxieties about the 2024 election. |
The Wall Street Journal also had very bad news for the GOP. It turns out they actually plan to run Trump in the election while simultaneously overcoming the abortion anchor. |
