+1 The schools don't want just anyone. That is the exact point. They want people who will be a good fit. Without the SAT, "good fit" is subject to change at any time, which is the part the complainers do not like. It is the school's right to choose who they want, like it or not. |
As long as they are not engaged in unlawful discrimination. Hence, the history of lawsuits on the topic. |
Maybe, that’s why foreign schools are now ranked higher than US universities in technical fields like engineering. They’re admitting the best and brightest abroad and not based on flimsy ID baskets. |
This Chicago kid got into all the Ivues he applied to.
What’s the difference? https://abc7chicago.com/amp/francis-parker-school-chicago-ivy-league-college-day/13110694/ |
Social class or economic diversity makes sense… |
There is an obvious difference. |
💯 |
Is this true? If so, fascinating…. |
True. Look at US News best global engineering school rankings. Even scarier is the fact that many of China’s engineering schools in the world’s T25 or T50 don’t even belong to their Ministry of Education—they belong to their Ministry of Defense. Including world’s #5, Harbin, which is ranked just below world’s #4, MIT. It’s a military technical university. https://www.usnews.com/education/best-global-universities/engineering |
Even with SAT, the SAT is just a part of the formula. Snowflakes just don't like being rejected, despite the fact that 95% are rejected, they take it personally and cannot handle it. They need to move on, and go to their lower reaches or targets that they gain acceptance to |
? |
When you reject 95% of your applicants, I find it hard to believe someone is actually discriminated against. Because the "asian" with poor likeabilty has hundreds of other asians, whites, blacks, hispanics, etc who are also with poor likeability. They just don't have the "it" factor Harvard is looking for. And parents and kids are pissed about it. And no, I don't trust this SC to make a fair and balanced decision, it's the same court that overturned Roe. |
I don’t trust Democrat racists either. |
No, inn reality, majority of Europeans and Asians want to attend undergrad and grad in the USA if they can afford it. But if you don't like our system you can go to one that does admit by test scores only. I personally prefer to hire engineers who are more than a SAT score, in fact I don't really care what their SAT score was and College gpa does not matter beyond the first job, and I've hired excellent engineers who didn't even have a 3.0 in undergrad, but had the drive and curiosity and perseverance to critically think and problem solve. Plenty of excellent engineers who had only a 3.5 in HS and went to a non-T25 undergrad. I like my engineers to be able to collaborate, communicate, write technical specs, etc...and that comes from more than just an 800 on the Math SAT portion. It comes from a well rounded undergrad education and drive and motivation, that can be had at many many universities. |
Have to admit that not all of the best engineers come from the best ranked schools. |
