Wont' happen. A third party would need to start with grassroots for things like school boards and county commissioners and grow from there. Without billionaire funding it, it cannot happen. Why would we just want another billionaire funded party?

Wrong. History tells us that successful 3rd parties are most commonly a product of well known politicians becoming disenchanted by the leadership and direction of their current party and choosing to re-align under a different party name. It takes politicians with big name recognition on the Federal level to make this happen. If there ever was a time for Barack Obama, George Bush, Al Gore, Bill Clinton, Mitt Romney to step up and have the gumption to say enough is enough.... it is now. The dominoes would fall quickly and 95% of us would quickly make the shift to identify politically under a different party name but the same political beliefs and values of currents GOPers and/or Dems would carry over to the new party; basically just hitting the reset button to replace failed leadership. 3rd parties have no chance of success if trying to start from the ground up. The two current parties have done a good job of crafting rules that make it very difficult for their power to be challenged by a 3rd entity and a successful challenge to that power will never happen first on a local or state level. Until this re-alignment happens, we'll just keep voting for Bidens and Trumps.

If Obama, Bush, Gore, Clinton, and Romney were disenchanted enough with the current primary system, got together to say "enough is enough," and nominated somebody to be president, what would that person look like?

Probably somebody who governs as a moderate, right? Somebody who deeply respects the institutions of the United States, who brings dignity and empathy to the White House, and who works to build consensus rather than seeing politics as zero-sum bloodsport.

Buddy, I have some great news for you. We have that guy already. His name is Joe Biden.

This, exactly. Yes, he is old. He can't help that. But he is who the country needs right now.

The GOP needs to somehow re-from without the MAGA crazies in the meantime.

+1 The faults of the GOP are not the problem of the Democrats. We have done everything we can to try and soften the crazy but at the end of the day, the GOP has to fix itself. No one else can do that for them, and a third party made to peel off Democratic votes is just going to create additional problems. You really think we’d have had 9/11 if Nader hadn’t siphoned off so many purity votes? You think we’d be at 1.5 degrees warming already? You think we’d have been in and lost 7,054 soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan (and only God truly knows how many more to suicide)?

One party represents, in their own words, the end of democracy. One party represents a way forward. Be a grown up and vote for the way forward instead of spitting in the face of every good American in history.

Sorry. Can’t tell which party you’re advocating for.

If I had such a profound lack of reading comprehension, I'm not sure I'd go around broadcasting it so loudly, but you do you.

Maybe there needs to be more that distinguishes the parties.

One party's guy wants to hang his generals, and the other party's guy wants autoworkers to get a square deal.

If you can't distinguish between the two, well, I'm once again not sure I'd go around broadcasting my ignorance like that.

The autoworkers wouldn’t be in this spot if Biden & Co. weren’t actively trying to shove electric cars down our throats

Sorta? The auto companies haven’t made good on earlier compromises workers made. I do agree that this country (and others) lack a good transition plan to offset carbon emissions and move to alternative energy sources. Manufacturing EVs poses environmental problems as well as worker issues (job losses here, exploitation of workers mining and assembling abroad).

There is plenty of blame to spread around.

“Despite what’s being posted here”? Honestly, I fear for the children of tomorrow when the Republicans of today have reading comprehension like yours. Because I’m a Democrat - a real one, not a MoDeRaTe - and I’m the one who has twice posted “Nader, Nader, Sanders/Stein.” You know why? Because I understand that a spoiler doesn’t need to be huge in order to destroy progress. Too many people are way too stupid and will vote for Literally Any Corpse (R). To prevent fascism, to prevent the destruction of life as we know it, to prevent wars, we can’t afford to peel off votes for what is an obvious Kanye-for-President level BS gambit from the GOP.

Your hyperbole is getting tiresome. Time to take a chill pill and work toward achievable solutions rather than name calling, which is off-putting to those moderates and independents who the Dems need. I mean, you slam Dems because you think they aren’t true Dems or Dem enough. Keep it up though if you want people to vote 3rd party.

DP and I also have concerns with our plan, or lack thereof, for widespread adoption of EVs. But the car manufacturers have announced major investments in EVs based on far more that government regulation.

I expect this to be another idiot right wing talking point though.

The solution certainly isn't hoping either party, one of them entirely lost to extremists and the other making alarming concessions to its own extremists, suddenly decides to correct its course and actually represent more moderate views. Many people are politically homeless. Deal with that instead of trying to browbeat anyone who dares question your Revolution. If Democrats need to hold onto my vote then return to moderate policies.

Maybe No Labels can ultimately throw its weight behind Democrats if Democrats can re-commit to being sensible rather than Revolutionary? Because if you keep doing what you're doing and simply insulting anyone who disagrees with you, you will also be voting for Trump because too many moderates can't endorse some of your policies.

No labels would only throw it's little weight to a Dem if that would help trump. What are you not understanding about no labels?

Your hyperbole is getting tiresome. Time to take a chill pill and work toward achievable solutions rather than name calling, which is off-putting to those moderates and independents who the Dems need. I mean, you slam Dems because you think they aren’t true Dems or Dem enough. Keep it up though if you want people to vote 3rd party.

Voting no labels is voting for trump. Stop treating posters like fools.

They’re not dumb like they’re trying to pretend. They just have to troll that hard to try to hide their love for the GOP and all their sick policies.

Yes, yes, anyone who expresses a concern is a traitor.

I mean, why express concern when we are so fortunate to have a likely rematch of the two greatest presidential candidates in American history?

Whine and cry to all the voters that can't be bothered to vote in a primary. The solution is not billionaires coming in to try to manipulate things to their liking with third party stunt.

Vote for trump or vote for no labels. The effect is the same.

Exactly. Why are Democrats still screaming for open borders?
