Keratosis pilaris

I just recently diagnosed myself with this. Had it for years but never knew what it was or bothered to look it up.

I googled and there are lots of suggestions. What have you tried that worked?

I use Differin on my arms and the LOTS of moisturizer. I use a sugar body scrub once a week. There's no cure but this keeps my pretty nasty case in check. Using an AHA/BHA lotion is also a good idea. Or something like Amlactin if yours isn't too severe.

a spoonful of Cod Liver Oil daily

I have KP and I swear by DermaDoctor's products.

I use the KP Duty Body Scrub: http://www.sephora.com/kp-duty-body-scrub-P147925?skuId=934539&icid2=dermadoctor_bestsellers_carousel_us:p147925

And the KP Duty Lotion: http://www.sephora.com/kp-duty-lotion-P73509?skuId=784413&icid2=dermadoctor_kpduty_carousel_us:p73509

I know the prices seem expensive, but a little goes a long way, and you will regret not trying these sooner.

I make a scrub with coconut oil and sugar that I use in the shower. I actually like it better than the KP Duty or other spa type products. I also like Glytone exfoliating body wash. I've tried Amlactin but didn't see much in the way of results. Coconut oil as a moisturizer works well too.

I was told by a derm that you cannot cure it. A prescription cream can help to lessen it, but you have to use it forever.

I've had it so long, I really don't even think about it any more. I just ignore it, though I'm sure others notice it.

exactly. I've had it since I was a child. I barely notice it.

My DD has it - 8 yr old. Derm suggested amlactin - otc at any beauty supply store, target, etc... It seems to be helping a bit. It has aha. Wear sunscreen if it's sunny and wearing short sleeves.

I have severe KP. I have tried it all, amlactin, Dermadoctor, coconut oil, etc. The only thing that has softened the affected skin is Gold Bond Rough and Bumpy lotion. It has made my skin significantly softer, however it hasn't helped with appearance much as I still have red speckled bumps.

Glycolic Acid; 2/day @ 8%

I'm 44. I've had KP my whole life. I've tried everything that you can possibly think of including all sorts of weird things, like rubbing apple cider vinegar all over and smelling like a salad. I have it worse on my arms than anywhere else, but I was also finally told by a Dr that what i thought was some mild butt acne that would come and go is also KP. And it was THEN that I found my miracle fix.

Check out Butt Acne Clearing Lotion on amazon. I but it on my butt AND my arms. It's a miracle worker, although if you don't keep up with it on a regular basis, the KP comes back. I've had a pharmacist tell me that it's mostly just Amlactin, but it definitely also has something else in it that works because I've tried Amlactin (because it's cheaper and I don't have to order it online) and it doesn't work as well.

I use the glytone products. The body lotion or the heel and elbow if it's not too harsh for your skin. The 29% glycolic acid really rips those bumps off.
