| I was diagnosed about three years ago due to absence or periods, facial hair, and polycystic ovaries. I typically got a period once every 10 months or so, if not longer. For the past 5 months, my cycle has been exactly 29 days. Could I be ovulating now? I have lost weight and have a very healthy diet now. Experiences or thoughts? |

If you've lost weight and are working out regularly, you may well be ovulating.
Working out regularly (nothing intense) weirdly always seems to trigger a regular cycle for me. |
| Sounds like you're ovulating now to me. I have PCOS and when I'm below a certain weight, I ovulate and when I creep up above it, I don't. |

I have PCOS and was diagnosed at fairly young while in college. Technically I was not officially diagnosed until 15 years later when they did a sonogram. But I knew before then. I always declined more testing (until trying to get preggers) because it was not going to change my treatment. Just seemed like a waste when the treatment was working and I wasn't trying to get pregnant.
My periods have been all over the map. I was on the pill for almost 10 years (4 different kinds) until I had to stop for medical reasons. Then I didn't see aunt flow for 6 months and my periods were a mess for 2 years. Then they levelled off. They vary between short and long but I do not worry about it as much. I took ovasitol and the were a little more predicable. But stress can definitely impact my cycle dramatically. My hormones are not at out of control as they once were. I know because they used to cause out of control crying fits (I could call the dr and have them order a blood draw to confirm). My PCOS symptoms can fluctuate dramatically and seem to change every few years. |
| PS - I should also add to the post above that weight is not a factor for me. I know it is for many women with PCOS and that can have dramatic impacts on fertility. I will point out that my most successful attempt of TTC happened after doing weight watchers for a few weeks beforehand. I am generally a healthy eater but I cut back on cheese, sugar, and bread. Maybe it is a coincidence, who knows? |
