Guess I'm not the only crazy who stayed up until midnight to sign up

Haha, I'm sitting here to wondering when it will be free. Can we draw straws?

I guess the fact that waitlists are now a possibility, it will get as competitive as SACC in FFX?

I'm up too. It was working fine until midnight. I'm guessing everyone hit on it right at 12. Will just contact them tomorrow. Last year I forgot and didn't register till April and didn't have a problem.

Depends on the school. I think as the school population has gotten bigger, the extended day facilities capacity has been exceeded at some schools, so they ended up with waitlist. But I think not long waitlists...

OMG. I literally was so tired but stayed up to register my son (we got on the waiting list last year). I have been clicking like mad.

It looks like the new registration link is working while the one for returning families is not. Debating whether to use it as a returning family....or wait and call in the morning. Thoughts?

Op here, I was able to register my rising k kid as a new student but the returning family site is down. I feel like at this point there's a sunk cost and I should stay up. They should stagger registration by school to avoid this next year.

FYI -
At this time we are aware of the server issues preventing families from registering for Extended Day services.

We are working to have the issues resolved as quickly as possible.

In order to allow all families the opportunity to register successfully, we temporarily suspend registration for Summer 2017 and School Year 2017-2018 until further notice.
We will provide an update tomorrow via APS School Talk and our website, apsva.us/extended-day.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

Lottery. Just everyone puts their names sometime over a 3 month period, and then do a draw if they are over capacity.

We have a defacto lottery with this registration race.

I agree with whoever suggested different schools register at different times. We aren't all competing against the entire county for this... And some schools are more oversubscribed than others. The ones that are known to be less competitive would maybe not even have a mad rush to register.

I had trouble initially but then got to register my kid who starts K and received a confirmation email from APS.

Yea, the new family site wasnt hit as hard and was still up. This sucks -- I stayed up four hours past my bedtime for no reason!

Why make this more painful than necessary? Can't they open up registration at a sane hour, like 12 pm? I am the pp who was able to register my rising K into the system. I also registered my kid at our local elementary school today and got an ID number. Now the MySchoolBucks website is unable to locate her on the system. I guess I have to wait a few days?!

One month! It takes them one month to fix this issue!

Yes! A month! Ridiculous. And DH and I have a wedding that day. So there's a very good chance that we'll end up on the waiting list, like last year. I'm so frustrated! My husband was up so late trying to get our son registered, all for nothing, and now we have to try to register via our phones at our friend's wedding...

Sorry for the vent. I'm just frustrated that this didn't work last night, and they have selected a date a month from now to try the registration again.
