Me too, but I'm not sure that APS will accept my registration or require me to register all over again in April. I plan on calling them tomorrow to find out.

in case anyone missed it:

Dear APS Families:

We apologize for the confusion and frustration that was caused by the problems with the Extended Day registration website last night. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We are continuing to work with the vendor and host of the Extended Day registration website to identify and resolve the issues.

New Registration Date
Online registration for Extended Day Summer School 2017 and 2017-18 school year will open on Sat, April 1 at 3 p.m.

More information and links to the online registration are available the Extended Day website.

Registration assistance will be available in the Extended Day Central Office (2110 Washington Blvd) from 3 – 6 p.m. on April 1.

For additional information, contact extended day by email at extended.day@apsva.us or call 703-228-6069.

Sincerely,
Bobby Kaplow,
Extended Day Supervisor

I talked to them today and they said they are going to check to see how many people registered and then base a decision off of that. What a colossal f up.

This bites. I will be so pissed if we miss out on extended day because of this. Also, who opens registration at midnight? Ridiculous. Do it at 7:00 like camp/Rec class signup.

And make sure the servers are prepared to handle the load of thousands of log-ins at once. I didn't stay up until midnight to do it, but at 6am when I woke up it was already down.

Thank you for that information. I also received confirmation and had no idea about server issues until I saw the article on arlnow.com. I know that notice went out on APStalk, but it seems to have only gone out to people who are signed up under ParentVue, which I am not yet (I think our school said they won't give out the parentvue log in info until March 24 or something, but I could be making that up). It is kind of frustrating that if you are a first time parent there isn't really a way to get info to you about re-registering (unless of course they actually use the email that I used when I registered for extended day).

Is there a wait list? I thought that you'd get a extended day spot as long as you sign up before the deadline. At least this was what i was told in 2014.

Historically that has been the case but as school capacity increases some schools have had to go to waitlists. Better to sign up as soon as you can.

Will have to wait for the new registration date. No worries. My school is below 100% enrollment.

In the future, they should do one school per day for a month. Arlington Science Focus on 3/01, Arlington Traditional on 3/02, Ashlawn on 3/03, and so on. Would be a lot easier on the system, but might be tougher to administer in terms of email.

I don't recall the system crashing since I started in 2014

They changed vendors mid year last year. The new one apparently failed the first test.

So, the parents of those who were able to sign up received email requesting them to re-register again on April 1. What a lovely "April fool" gift. Huh.
