If it took you more than 8 months to conceive, did you end up needing intervention?

It took us 3 months to conceive the first, and now we have been trying for 8 months to conceive the second. I know several friends who struggled with secondary infertility, despite being relatively young (29-32). I know the advice is to wait 1 year if under 35 to see a doctor about TTC, so I will wait a few more months, but just want to hear what your experiences have been?

We conceived #2 on month 10 of trying when I was 28. It was hard not to feel stressed about it. #1 was a surprise when my IUD dislodged without my noticing, so trying to conceive was something new to us. I had heard of others who scheduled a consult so that their appointment would be right on the one year mark, rather than scheduling and having to wait. We didn't quite make it that far, but I think it's a good idea, even if it's just to feel like you're doing something productive. Good luck!

We conceived #1 on month 10. Went for testing, HSG, etc. on month 6 and everything looked good...was going forward with intervention if we didn't conceive by month 12.

we booked an appt at 13 months, we ran the initial tests and started saving money. My DH had low motility and low morphology so I was worried. I am 30 years old.

I have 2 MTHFR mutations so they had me start taking baby aspirin. The first month I started taking the aspirin I got pregnant and it stuck. Looking back, I wish I had taken baby aspirin on my own way sooner as I had read other people talking about it.

Good luck!

Close to a year; learned later that the effects of hormonal birth control (pill) can linger, so guess is that was the cause. Next two were much quicker.

We conceived #1 on the first month of trying so I was expecting something similar with #2. After 9 months of TTC with no success, I scheduled an appointment with my OB only to go in and have them discover that I was 5 weeks pregnant.

Yes, intervention needed both times.

It took us four cycles to conceive our first, fourteen to conceive our second.

Around eight months is when I consulted with my OB--your OB can order the initial bloodwork for testing and an HSG as you get closer to a year. We got all the testing done as we approached the one year mark so we would have information in hand before going to Shady Grove (I really didn't want to have our initial consult involve them telling us to get a bunch of tests done that we already knew we needed to have done). All the testing came back normal.

As it turned out, as we were preparing to start IUIs, I got pregnant. It was two cycles after my HSG--my OB noted that there's an uptick in conception after HSG procedures.

Yes, I did. Pregnant on the first try with #1. Currently TTC 2.5 years for #2, never seen a BFP. Turning now to donor eggs.

13th month no intervention with first other than fertility testing with HSG. 12 months and trying for number two, with intervention.

Two of my closest friends took over 9 months to conceive and ended up needing no intervention. For my first friend, she tried for about 10 months (at least) but she always said they weren't trying that hard (scheduling, etc). She didn't seem worried. My second friend was definitely worried and it went on for at least 2 years but she did eventually get pregnant (I think just about at the point when they were going to seek help). First friend was 31 and second 33 when they did conceive. Both have healthy babies now.

No 13 months for DC1. One month for DC2

Nope, it took 9 months before we conceived and we'd started looking into next steps (DH went for sperm analysis) but we ended up not needing interventions. Found out I was pregnant on my 32nd birthday.

Took us 16 months, and we were set for our infertility appoimtment when I got pregnant,

Tried for two years for my first before I got pregnant. Second tried for a year and wasn't willing to wait. Did IVF. Did IUI with first, but they didn't work.
