If it took you more than 8 months to conceive, did you end up needing intervention?

| We tried for a year for our first before going to an RE. I read TCOYF and was temping, charting and using OPKs and...nothing. Numbers for both of us looked great so we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility. The third IUI worked. I'm 36 so I assume it was just an egg quality issue, but really I have no idea. |

| #3 (when I was 33/34) took over a year to conceive. I actually had made an appt with a fertility doctor, and then got pregnant the week before, so I cancelled it. |

Why did you decide you needed donor eggs? Did you try IVF with original eggs? What happened? |

| We tried for almost one year with #1. In the end, it turned out that we always stopped too early (I have long cycles) and when I ovulate, I get super tired. (I'm also wondering if I was subconsciously trying to avoid getting pregnant.) When I finally started really paying attention to the cycle, the end result was the pregnancy. |

| For my first pregnancy, yes. Tried for a year with no luck. All testing, including HSG was normal, DH as well. Finally saw RE, did one month of clomid and IUI and got pregnant. My second baby was conceived the first month off birth control...go figure. |

No. Tried 15 months for the first, which ended in a miscarriage - but I had super irregular cycles after coming off the birth control pill, and had been tested etc and was considering intervention.
After the miscarriage my cycles magically went back to normal and I conceived my first child on the second cycle of trying. Second child was conceived without even "trying" (timing, etc) |

| First (age 33) I didn't get my period for three months off birth control. Got one period and then no period the next two months. I took clomid and conceived right away. Second all cycles were normal and all tests normal. After a year tried clomid and didn't work. After two montbs of clomid my Ob suggested I stop and relax or get more aggressive. I called and scheduled RE appointments, started acupuncture, and had an HSG. HSG results were normal but I conceived the following week (month 14 of actively trying , and our "birth control" before that was withdrawal and rhythm method). I got the results the day I was scheduled to meet with RE. I was 37 when I conceived, 38 when I gave birth. |

| First time no, but it took 2 years. Second time did IVF after 2 year. |

| First took a full 12 months of timed cycles at age 28. Had appointment with SG set up when found out pregnant. Tried a year for #2, then 3 IUIs, finally had first positive pregnancy test (since DC 1) on our 3rd IVF at age 31. And... before I had gotten my period back, while I was still breastfeeding #2, I had my 3rd ever positive test which turned into DC #3. |

| Started trying at 34. Found out I had lean PCOS and was anovulatory. OB did not want to prescribe clomid without monitoring, so he referred me to an RE. 6 IUI cycles with "excellent response", no BFP. Moved to IVF when I was 36. Conceived DD on an FET cycle and gave birth at 37. |

| When people say "trying" on here, are you temping, using OPK, monitoring CM, etc? Sometimes people jump too early for medical assistance without having wholeheartedly "tried." |
