Can we make showering or bathing in the morning work? Is it only for tv and the movies?

With two working parents and a 6yo and 2yo. Is it stuff only for tv and the movies? How much earlier do you get up to make it work in your house. School starts at 7:50 for 6yo.

We do it, but I WAH and kids get on the bus at 8:15. Honestly, I just make sure everyone is up, lunches are made, and they are in the shower. It only takes about 10-12 minutes for both of them to shower and dress. Then we comb hair, brush teeth and eat a quick breakfast before they catch the bus. Also, I have boys so it does make the hair/grooming thing a lot easier.

In all, I'd say you need to bake in an extra 15 minutes. Not too bad. It saves a TON of time at night.

For you? Or your kids?

Both my DH and I shower every morning. I get up at 5:15am, but can make it work getting up at 5:30am, it's just tighter and more rushed. I shower first, DH deals with any children that wake up while I"m doing that. Then he gets in the shower and I finish getting ready and deal with any children.

We have a 2 year old and an infant. Generally the baby sleeps until past 6. The 2 year old wakes up between 5:30-6am, sometimes earlier. So my DH normally gets the toddler up and dressed and I do the infant since I'm still nursing.

I don't know why you would want to do this. I think it's really hard for kids to transition from the comfort of bed to rushing through a shower when they are so young. At night, it's easy enough to bathe and then hop in bed. I think you are just asking a lot from the mentality of a 2 yr old and 6 yr old to willingly agree to showering on a tight schedule in the morning. The time has to be more relaxed at night -- when your only obligation is to get to bed -- than it will be in the morning when you are stressing about getting to school and work on time or hitting traffic/missing train/etc.

I think OP means the parents. And the answer is the same for most of these types of issues: get less sleep, which stinks.

My 6 and 9 YO boys shower every morning. They refuse to start the day without one. Our schedule looks something like this:
6:00 wake up
6:05-6:10 shower
6:10-6:30 get dressed, brush teeth, brush hair
6:30-6:50 breakfast/make lunches
6:50-7:00 get packed up/shoes on/go to bus stop
7:05 bus
Then my husband and I get ready for the day.

Only my high school child bathes in the mornings. My two in elementary bathe at night. They would stay in the shower for an hour, if I let them. No way we could get it done in the mornings.

For me, I don't wash my hair every day. It would take too long. I either wash it at night or use dry shampoo.

How do you all get out quickly? When I've tried showering in the morning, I just can't move. I will stand there for 15 minutes not even shampooing my hair. Clearly the sleep would do me more good than the shower.

Morning showers never work for us. Everyone showers at night. Before going to bed, we prep breakfast, make lunch and pickout clothes for next day.

For adults or children?

We are still in the nighttime bath stage for LO, but for the adults, I am on DS duty from 6-7 while DH gets up & ready, and then we switch off from 7-8 while I get ready & then walk DS to daycare.

You cannot find time to shower?

I just get up earlier if needed. And I take quick showers. But morning showers are important to me. I cannot imagine not showering in the am before going to work,

I always have to shower in the morning: to wake up, feel refreshed, make sure my hair doesn't lie flat/oily. For those women who shower at night, do you have to wet your hair down and blowdry in the morning? My hair would be an absolute mess if I let it air dry while sleeping.

I have curly hair so air drying makes my hair look better. I also think that the blow dryer does a lot of damage to my hair. When I wear it straight I just run a straightener through it quickly in the morning. Having dry, curly hair, my hair always looks better on the second day.

We bathe our kids at night because they are filthy after a day of sports, camp, playground, art, whatever. Adults shower in the morning. Not sure which you are asking about.

My hair requires I shower in the morning, and I need it to wake up. Adults wake up 6-6:15 to shower and get dressed before getting kids up at 6:45-7. Kids bathe/shower before bed.
