How common are straight A's at Swanson? A's & B's?

My 6th grade son got straight As this quarter. He got one B last quarter. He said a lot of people get As and Bs. Not sure about straight As.

Wondering why you're asking. If your kid is getting straight As, do3s it matter if lots of other kids do, too?

Kind of common i think. I think there's grade inflation.

Can't speak to Swanson, but Williamsburg is comparable. I'd say at year-end assembly there might be 20-25 kids on the principal's list (straight As). Honor role (As and Bs) is much higher. Maybe 50%.

Cs are more common than you might expect in middle school, especially in math and world languages.

At my kid's MS (in Loudoun) about 25-30 kids (out of a class of 400) end up with straight A's through middle school (6th-8th grade).

In any given quarter, about 100 get straight A's. Yes, 25% of the class.

Jefferson seems to be about the same with distribution of All A's and A-B honor roll.

This is a highly educated area. It's not surprising there are many intelligent children. Plus--the elementary schools are very rigorous. Many are already past 6th grade math at entry.

+1

My DD is a 7th grader at Swanson and has only had 1 B on her report card from Swanson so far. She's in intensified Algebra. Her older siblings did about the same. They were very well prepared by their elementary school and both DH and I have graduate degrees. Same can be said for many of her friends.

Three years ago at graduation there were six kids at Jefferson who got straight As for three years.
