Nephew is uneducated and ambitionless

Anonymous
The kid dropped out of college after 1st semester. In community college with a PT job. Posts ridiculous inspirational quotes with misspellings & bad grammar. Camping & fishing are his mission in life - but only so he can post photos of himself doing it shirtless. Apparently the grubbier looking with long, stringy hair, the better - and top it off with a ski cap. Just so disgusted. His parents paid for private school & tutors to try to set him on the right path - and he hopped off the education train as soon as he could!

go camping with him to create a bond. take him to Smokies or Outer Banks. Let him show you how to camp. Express appreciation or respect for some small details. Take him to vermont for fly fishing vacation.

Does he get this from you?

Or are you regularly this much of a hypocrite?

+1 seriously, who cares

And this affects you how?
Unless he's asking you for money, this is not your concern. Stop being such a judgmental ass.

He's in community college with a part-time job.

That's better than some youngsters I know, who despite high IQs and every luxury money could buy, dropped out and stayed at home doing nothing.

Why? Because they had undiscovered mental health issues and learning disorders. You will find that is a more common cause of dropping out and "failing at life" than you might think, and unfortunately, when caught in adulthood, it can be extremely hard to get back on track.

So don't be disgusted, OP. Be glad he's at least partly functional, and have some compassion for whatever ills are hidden behind that facade.

And you are on here, with your own bad grammar, judging him. You obviously think you are better than him and his parents, but I don't think you'll find anyone here on DCUM who will agree with you. You're pretty lousy and I feel bad that your nephew has such a judgmental shrew as a relative.

He's free spirit and you're all in his business. You don't pay for him WTF do you care ?

God you people are so damn mean and nasty to your loved ones.

He'll get it together in a couple of years as his friends outgrow him (probably), and he'll be glad he took the time to have some fun.

Or, he'll get addicted to some substance, and that will be that.

Hope for the former.

Sounds like his parents wasted a lot of money trying to form the kid they wanted rather than appreciating the kid they had.

Not your circus, not your monkeys.

There is this newfangled invention on Facebook called the Unfollow button. If you are so bothered by the way an adult who is not your child is living his life, I encourage you to click it.

Yes it does. As long as he doesn't do many drugs or get drunk every night, he will probably turn out ok.

Unless he lives in the DC area. It takes a boatload of cash here to live, but if he lives elsewhere he will probably turn out ok.
