DD needs to choose a school.... options

DD applied to and was admitted to the following schools. She wants to study business at a large school that has good sports teams. From my perspective, these schools are all considered good. Are any of these schools perceived/known to be better than the others?

Clemson
Virginia Tech
James Madison
University of Maryland
Penn State
University of South Carolina
University of Colorado, Boulder

Penn State is reputable but they just had a young person fall down the stairs while drunk at a Frat party. He was left there for 12 hours and died at the Hospital a day later. With Sandusky and riots--I would pass.

I would look at the campuses and also, did she get into the business school at all of them. UMD you have to be admitted to the business school and if you aren't a direct admit, it can be tough to get in via letters and sciences.

They're all good schools. UMD is probably the best, but they're all good. I'd probably go to UC Boulder just because it's so beautiful there. Is money a consideration?

My son was admitted to almost the same list minus Univerdity of Colorado and University of SC.

Is trying to decide between Tulane and Penn State? Is Tulane worth the extra $$$.

I am a CPA, and I know tons of people who went to JMU and Va Tech. They all loved their schools. I wouldn't pay for out of state though.

Boulder - lifestyle is unparalleled.

If it is about education, recruiting, and access - UMD.

yes.

dont go to psu. i'm a psu alum. I've gotten negative passing remarks about it at interviews on the west coast with respect to the multitude of issues that have occured there.

And i'm not even a tulane fan - but don't go to psu.

I thought only ED decisions were out for VT?

OP, I think you at least in part have to think about the money and what it means for your daughter's future. I can't see paying a heck of a lot more for Penn State over VA Tech.

I hire people and we couldn't care less about the horrible football situation at Penn State. It has no bearing on accounting classes.

Colorado wins for beauty.

OP here- thanks for the comments. She applied to and got into all of the business schools. (we were surprised by this)

I think Tulane is considered more exclusive than Penn State.

I'd go to Boulder if she's born and raised in the DMV. She needs to see that there's a way to be competitive and successful without being mean and catty and snobby. Colorado has SUCH a different vibe to it - she should get to experience that.

Surprised at all of the votes for Boulder!

If she was admitted to UMD's business school, I'd definitely choose that. In which state do you live?
