Jamie Lynne Spears' daughter in serious ATV accident

She is 8 years old, is it just me or is that quite young to be riding an ATV by yourself? Sounds like responders got there very quickly, hopefully she will make a full recovery.

I hate ATV's. I know two people from high school who died riding them. They're so dangerous.

Makes me so sad for her. I hope the girl recovers quickly.

My 8YO can't control her razor - I would not put her behind the wheel of an ATV.

(Note -I also have a classmate who died and a friend who is paralyzed from an ATV accident and this influences my POV)

Really sad. I hope that she will be o.k.

Still don't understand why people let their kids ride ATVs, despite the known risks.

2 minutes of submersion is a long time. I am praying very hard for this little girl.

TMZ reported that the manual said children under 10 shouldn't drive it.

I think it's really common to let kids ride on ATVs and I just don't get it. I know someone who had an ATV accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury-he still needs a full time caregiver.

I am always so shocked when people let their kids ride ATVs. I even know someone whose young child wound up with broken ribs and internal bleeding after riding in an ATV. She was so surprised he got hurt because "he always wears his helmet". Those things are rolling death traps. I'm so sorry for the little girl's accident and I truly hope she has a quick recovery, but she never should have been in one of those things, especially near a pond.

Hopefully she'll recover quickly so she can get back to her trampoline.

I guess she had driven it around quite a bit before that and her parents were supervising her. They were about 100ft away when they saw her go into the water and they both dove in after her to get her out of the water.

Hopefully they were able to start CPR right away too.

I think that they had a false sense of security because they were standing right there and watching her. It's not like she was outside driving around all by herself. I'm sure that they never thought that something like this would ever happen to her.

People do it. They even have have two wheeled dirt bikes for kids around that age.

Don't know if you all saw this clip of the kindergartener riding a minibike to school:

Didn't read the article. Does Jamie Lyn Spears still live in Lousiana, where they're originally from? These type of activities might be more common in rural areas, where there's more land to play around in.

Hope she has a speedy recovery!

According to the article, yes. And that's where this accident happened.

They couldn't start CPR right away. Her parents dove in after her, but were unable to get her out of the water because she was buckled into the ATV.
