Serious dating after 40... what do you call your SO?

Anonymous
I am dating someone very seriously... we have both been married/divorced and we both have children. Calling each other boyfriend/girlfriend seems so juvenile but it feels necessary to have a "title"... not for us, but society (introductions are strange as "friend"). What do you call your SO?

Depends how seriously. Partner if very, boyfriend if not.

Boyfriend?

There really isn't another word for it. I'm an adult, with a child and dating. Doesn't make it any different. Partner is only if you are living with them and marriage objectors.

Either partner or boyfriend/girlfriend. I knew someone in HS that referenced this guy as her lover but that was a bit too much info.

I say "ladyfriend" but my sisters say it sounds like she's a prostitute.
