On a much lighter note, DC has been admitted ED so I've been slowly accumulating 'must have' items at sale prices. For instance, yesterday while grocery shopping I bought a small spray bottle of Febreze for clothing just in case DC doesn't get a chance to do laundry (but intends to do so).
That said, does anybody have a recommendation for dorm XL sheets (I assume that two sets should be enough)? I've seen some in stores where the $9.99 sheet sets were like sandpaper and the best were a whopping $99.00. I prefer to shop online so if there is a reasonably priced brand that you like and purchased for your DC, please share. |
| Everyone I know either buys those from Target or Bed, Bath & Beyond. And you should let your kid pick their own bedding. They may want to coordinate with their roommate(s). |
We're talking sheets. Let's keep it simple. Thanks. |
I like Amazon because you get the ratings on everything. There's one set that has over 7,000 customer reviews! When I was in college in the stone age, linen, including pillows, came with the room. | Watch Macy's for good sales. Right now Twin XL 500TC Pima cotton sheet sets are available in lots of colors for about $60 with an online coupon. I think I got them for $50 last year. It will be more expensive and the selection more picked over if you wait until fall. Pottery Barn Teen also has good sales, but those are usually prints so DC would have to like/be willing to live with whatever's on sale. Amazon turned out to be a good source as well, especially for bed covers. |

IKEA has them but you might find them too "basic".
Target usually has multiple styles/patterns/quality levels, but not necessarily all year long--maybe mainly at back-to-school time (July-August). |
| If you know for sure the school has XL twins -- was shocked to learn that UMD does not! |

OP here. Thanks for these great suggestions. DC likes plain colored sheets. So basic, good thread sheets works.
Though I prefer to let my fingers do the walking, looks like I'll have to get out there and take advantage of your great suggestions! |
OP again. DC's college dorms (all) have XL twins. |
You paid $50 for a twin xl sheet? |
Sheet set? |
| Yes, set. |
| Wait until the summer. The XL Twin sets come out in force in the summer. |
| Ikea carries XL twin sheets (at least they do in the summer, not sure if they do year round). Cheap, but DC reports they are comfortable and have held up well. |
