By "excellent" I mean very low rates of m/s (and a doc. that perfoms it a lot).
Also, have anyone used Fair Oaks Antenatal Clinic for amnio? Did you like? Do you know their rates? Thanks. |

Dr. Thomas Pinckert at Greater Washington Maternal Fetal Medicine. http://www.gwmfm.com/
I didn't do amnio, but did do a CVS which is done even earlier and carries slightly higher risks. Dr. Pinckert was fantastic--absolutely the best doctor I've ever been to. They also have a great genetic counselor there. |

I just had an amnio done last week by Dr. McLaren in his new office near Fair Oaks. He used to be affiliated with VHC but recently moved out there. He came highly recommended by lots of people. The amnio could not have gone more smoothly - he is a pro and it was very quick and painless. I got back the results in 7 business days (all good!).

I recommend this group also -
Dr. Thomas Pinckert at Greater Washington Maternal Fetal Medicine. http://www.gwmfm.com/ They were wonderful for my amnio. Very nice genetic counselor also. They do tons of amnios/cvs and they work w. high risk pregnancies, etc. I was very nervous about the amnio, but had total faith in them. |

Dr. Susan Black at the Washington National Hospital.
She is not only experienced, but also extremely reassuring and pleasant. She managed to keep me distracted throughout the procedure and I barely felt anything (I'm normally terrified of needles). Her stories about other procedures and her own grandchild also made me at ease and assured that there was little risk to my baby. At the end, my husband and I got a warm hug. They also have excellent ultrasound so the entire experience, preceded by some 20 minutes of our baby on the screens, was great (especially in retrospect after we got the results). |
| Another recommendation for Dr. Rodney McLaren. He is one of the best in the area. I've had two amnios done by him over the past few years. |

Dr. Maclaren is awesome--very calm and kind. I also liked all the pictures on the wall of people that he helped have babies. it was sweet. I last saw him at VHC so I am not familiar with his new offices. On caveat, he did not do amnios before I think week 18 or maybe it was 17 so if you are looking for an earlier amnio, he is not your guy. I am also not sure if he does cvs.

Dr. Pinckert is the best! His group is just amazing. Highly, highly trained and great bedside manners.
Good luck |
| Pinckert or Gallagher at Greater Washington Maternal Fetal Medicine. |
| Pinckert (Holy Cross) and Gallagher (GWU) are both excellent. Dr. Pinckert is such a nice person. |
| PP - Oops Gallagher is at Holy Cross (not GWU). |
| Dr. Evelyn Karson or Dr. Susan Black. |
| Dr Macri at GW - rate 1 in 700 for MC. |
| Dr Harvey Stern at Genetics and IVF. |
