Maternal-Fetal specialists - Drs. Vyas or Katz in Arlington?

Anonymous
My regular doctor (Dr. McLaren) is leaving Virginia Hospital Center and these are the 2 remaining specialists I have to choose from. Does anyone have any experience with them. I would be getting an amnio from one of them so I want someone really good!

Thanks!!

Dr. McLaren is leaving VHC!! How disappointing. Of course, I just had my amnio with him and don't plan on having any more children. I know this in no way answers your question but, I saw the title of your post and was about to recommend McLaren to you.

So sad to hear McLaren is leaving. I saw him with my twin pregnancy and adored him. I have a friend who saw Dr. Vyas with their twins, and really liked her. Might give you some comfort given she was in the same practice as McLaren.

Do you have contact information for this new practice? My current practice wouldn't tell me anything except that he is leaving. I would love to keep him as my doctor.

If he is with the same Fairfax/Fair Oaks practice that I see (I don't think there are any other options that serve those locations):
Perinatal Associates-N VA
Address: 3020 Hamaker Ct
Ste 501
Fairfax, VA, 22031
Phone Number: 703-698-5350

No, Dr. McLaren will be opening his own practice. NOT a part of perinatal associates. I will post the address and phone number when I get it.

OP here - PP, thanks for posting this info when you get it, it sounds like a lot of people are interested. Unfortunately, unless he gets his practice set up in the next 3 weeks I'll have to get my amnio done by someone else.

Thanks!!

I use Dr. Ghidini at Alexandria Perinatal. He's absolutely fantastic. I plan to deliver at VHC but didn't want to see Dr. McLaren (I do not agree with some of his treatment policies for Type 1 diabetic women).

I am bumping this as my OB suggested Dr Katz to follow me as I have had a previous preterm labor. Any feedback?

I really like Dr. Katz. If you do your homework, he talks to you like an intelligent adult. He has also taken a lot of extra time with me for ultrasounds to monitor a problem pregnancy.

I think Dr. Katz is great and highly recomend him.
