| It is very contagious, it can stay on a surface for a long time |

Oh. My. Goodness. People.
Stop worrying so much about these three people and where they visited. Do you not understand that this virus is spreading all around us? Nobody has been testing anyone except those with severe symptoms and links to travel to China, and lately Italy. People have had to BEG to be tested and they were refused. We have had travelers from Italy, from France, from Iran, and from China for weeks and weeks who haven't been tested and who have the virus. we just don't know about it unless someone happens to manage to get tested. You do NOT need to worry about contact tracing these three people and wondering how a HS student may have picked up the virus while doing service hours at a nursing home. Worry about them picking up the damn virus in school! At a game! At a concert! On a college tour. From someone traveling back from Seattle. From their cousins traveling from Chicago. From a trip to NYC. From someone who works in DC. The virus is spreading everywhere at this point. So if you are going to worry about it please understand... it isn't just coming from these three people who happened to be the first in MD to get tested for it (recently) |
I watched the governor’s press conference last night. What I understood from the press conference is that they weren’t ever symptomatic. The CDC identified them as possibly exposed to the virus and contacted the Maryland Health Department. The state health department notified them of possible exposure and asked them to present at a hospital for testing just a few days ago. |
Nope. They were sick. That press conference was not informative. Look at news reports instead. |
They said that they were recovering well. So I'd assume that they were symptomatic, but not seriously. |
Sorry, but we can worry about these people and where they visited and worry about all the other things you mention too. I know when so much is uncontrollable we want to be able to control things, but you don't get to be the thought police. Worry about you and we will worry about whatever we please. Wishing you and everyone here good health. |
This. There were two folks diagnosed who were at the AIPAC conference last week. Did you eat anywhere within about five blocks of the Convention Center? Ride the Metro on the Red or Yellow lines? You may have been exposed. Wash your hands. Get some rest. Hope for the best. |
This. And have a glass of wine or three, it helps with panicky feelings. |

WE. HAVE. THE. RIGHT. TO. KNOW. |
It said they sought medical attention. All three. That is sick to me. Their symptoms are abating now. |
|
While other countries have already conducted thousands or even tens of thousands of tests, as of last week the U.S. had done fewer than 500.
Embarrassing |
When one party aims for four decades to destroy government to cut taxes on the rich, you get ... A poorly functioning government. (And a $2 trillion tax cut for billionaires.) |
New poster who has been watching CNN all night. You are wrong about worrying about where people visited. That ship has sailed. Now we "all need to prepare for major disruptions to life" in our nation. Take a look at Westchester, NY. Two days ago, one man tested positive. Now we have 34. All traced back to him, but really, who cares. The only thing that is remarkable is that these people actually got the opportunity to be tested. |
It is not airborne. It is droplet. Big difference. If they cough and a droplet lands on something and you touch that something and then wipe your eye, pick your nose, or put a finger in your mouth - it is all yours. You can not breath and get it from someone talking/breathing near you. THAT is airborne. That is why the masks help people who are sick from spreading their germs. And that is why a healthy person wearing the mask can still get sick. It is basically useless unless it reminds you to not put your fingers in your mouth/nose. 99% of droplet transmission is you touching something, not washing your hands, using your iPhone, keys, purse, money, etc... and then eventually wiping an eye or getting something out of your teeth, etc.... I mean even if you wash your hands, your nasty phone still has it. Clean surfaces and items you use often. Much more important than a mask. |
