Whitman boundaries will change, but not Churchill's during this process. |
| WJ will only lose headcount to Woodward. This is because it will be overcrowded. It should have no impact on its test averages which is the superficial means by which some people gauge school quality. |
Why wouldn’t both Woodward and WJ consist of a mixture of current WJ and DCC students? The schools couldn’t be closer to each other and, in fact, were once a combined school in the Woodward building. |
Whtman’s boundaries will change in a way that won’t hurt its scores. It will add a BCC elementary school (probably Westbrook) and give up one of its elementary schools (maybe Bradley Hills). |

You’re not “overpaying.” That you think so is the problem. If your only gauge is your home value, then, yeah, you’re enabling racism and no different from the overt racist white flighters of the past. |
Not the PP, but you are not making any sense here. Why anyone want to pay 800K knowingly that prices will be 700K after school is not in WJ? Also you think it's racism? Get a life. |
+1 Some posters can't get a simple idea that not many families are rich enough to not care about losing 100K. |
I don’t think that is it. I think with the avg black wealth so low that the majority of minorities don’t care about white people losing 100k. Taking the “serves them right” stance. One would grow old waiting on poor minorities to feel bad about white people losing 100k |
|
I’m not sure that housing prices will decrease in WJ or Woodward neighborhoods. The houses are already really nice and close to metro. I do think houses in whichever dcc neighborhoods are moved to Woodward will increase.
|
If School was a non-factor then you wouldn't have said that it will increase in certain pockets. Metro factor is already a factor in current price. WJ is also baked in. If you take away WJ then it's logical that it will have impact on house prices. |
It may not be black or white issue. I think many posters wrongly assume that loosing 100K is a small issue for all families in WJ. |
Conversely, the 100k will really come in handy when we're rezoned from Einstein to Woodward.

The situation for poor minorities will not be changed whether more white people end up at Woodward or stay at WJ. The way MCPS addresses "integration" is disgusting and only about improving MCPS numbers and external perception. MCPS does nothing to help the poor minorities in the schools once they can mask their lower scores by moving UMC white kids into the school. Its horrible that the performance of URM students has not only NOT improved but declined while MCPS only focuses on finding ways to lure white families into the area to prop up scores.
So sure give up 100K to help MCPS look better, great investment. |
Who are mostly white or Asian and have 100K to lose. Most AA and spanish don’t have 100k, so middle class white people losing it by having to send their kids to school with their kids isn’t going to keep them up at night. |
