I get it but if she has an older septic system that might be all she can use.

She doesn’t! The in-laws live in a not-old house with normal plumbing fixtures/pipes on a normal municipal sewer system. For some reason she just really likes Scott.

I also like Scott. AMA.
I do however stock all other bathrooms with the preferred stuff. I’m not evil.

This is petty and redundant but it hit me this week like never before. Maybe because of the Covid break.

What is up with just hanging and looking at each other. And pointless convo? Did I used to be this way? Now I would much rather be busy with something or reading something.

Oh I'm the opposite. Assuming its people you love, I love a good conversation and just sitting around chatting and noshing.

That's my wife's family. They could sit around the dinner table for hours, talking about nothing, other than the same old stories.

I typically either leave after dinner, or go play video games with the teenagers.

Agreed! I really miss the old days of large extended family just hanging out and chit-chatting.

Yeah your hubs isn't entitled to pictures of his grandchildren.

Years past, GMo would pose holding my infant DC and as the family grew, each grandparent holding a DC.

Bugs me like they are the parents?

That makes me so mad - we informed my in laws after the first time they did this that they need our permission to use our children's photos anywhere except displayed in their home. No social media, no Christmas cards. Our kids, not theirs.

A lot of people like Scott - it doesn't leave lint, it's better for plumbing. If you like a linty hoo ha, that's on you.

That's some serious control freakishness on your part. Very weird.

He wanted my son to read the book and give a report on it. My dad told me that we are pushing away anything having to do with Hungary and this is painful to him.

For context, my dad is a very right-wing conservative Hungarian nationalist who likes Viktor Orban and the "Our Homeland" movement which is even more right-wing than Orban is. He is also racist and anti-Semitic and doesn't hide it. It's impossible to discuss current events with him because he starts screaming and no one can get a word in edgewise. He is convinced that Hungary is the greatest nation in the world and there is a worldwide Jewish conspiracy against Hungarians. Think Gus Portokalos from My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but a million times worse.

This isn’t petty. It’s fascinating. Granted I’m on your side and don’t think you should force your son to read what sounds like Nazi or Soviet Communist propaganda. However, there must be a reason your dad is the way he is. Assuming he was raised behind the Iron Curtain and faced the hardships that came along with that, it’s curious he’s still supporting it.

Anyway, still on your side PP. I’m sure my questions would turn him into a loon for an hour but what an interesting petty complaint for this thread!

Hungarian history is fascinating. Always being invaded and taken over. The Hungarians I know are not racists and/or anti-semitic. Orban is not racist or anti-semitic. https://www.jpost.com/opinion/article-712948. I think OP could encourage her son to take some interest in grandfather's heritage. It would make a great college application essay.

Mix cupcakes are really good.

Eww no. So sweet, with a weird slightly rancid aftertaste. No thanks.

Check the expiry date. We have never had an issue and we always add something extra to make it special.

Are you nuts? Orban is terrible.

I’m your MIL. I have a new built and lots of money - I actually like it. And even worse, it never occurred to me to stock other TP. Sorry!

My petty vent. My “close talker” aunts and cousin. And to make it 1,000 times worse - the aunts definitely have undiagnosed ADHD and ramble on endlessly. They are oblivious to the social cues you are trying to give them that you aren’t interested in their most recent visit to physical therapy, etc.

+1

We only use Scott in our house.
