| So I am a new stay at home mom and my reference point of kelly ripa was about 12 years told...saw her on TV this week for the first time in awhile and omg she looks terrible. She has to be suffering from a severe ED!!! She looks awful now. It's amazing how much extreme thinness ages you.
I look back at when I was struggling with an eating disorder, and was 110 pounds at 5'5. SO GLAD I gained weight when I was still young with lots of collagen, because if I'd kept that look up, I know I would look at least 10 years older. (And regardless of the aging effects, it looks worse on the bone structure, making everything protrude harshly) |

I agree that she used to be adorable, and while she's still an attractive lady, I also feel sad looking at her. She doesn't look well.
I think it's really interesting how some people with that level of weight loss and skinniness are perceived as disordered while others in a comparable state are not. For instance, I think Kate Middleton is beautiful and I am not critiquing her, but I think she really looks disordered. People are very defensive and dismissive of that, which i think is interesting, because to me she is absolutely on par with Kelly Ripa in that way. |

I think many, many, many people recognize Kate Middleton as having a disorder. I feel like every time there's a mention of that on DCUM people accuse it of being a "Kate Middleton obsessed troll"- which, I spend a good amount of time on this website but I have never recognized this particular troll? So there seems to be a real defensiveness towards her on here, which makes sense because she really appeals to the UMC soccer mom subset. But in almost every comment section online you will see people mentioning how unhealthily thin she looks and I rarely see any dissension |

As they age, women are increasingly criticized for their looks. Either they're too thin, or too fat. The reality is that society is not tolerant of older women. Sexism, pure and simple. |
