Does anyone know why they move Spring Break around so much? This year it is the third week in April, next year they are proposing the last week in March.

That's weird. Traditionally they've times Spring break to coincide with Easter.

Easter. Although I thought they said would be tying it to Emancipation Day in the future not Easter. I hate spring break at Easter - way more expensive to travel.

So much for being non-sectarian and consistent.

For a couple of years they've tied it to Emancipation Day, and had said they would continue to do that (which is great for planning purposes), so not sure what happened. Be sure to provide feedback if you have an opinion!

Really short Christmas break -- yet we still start early and end in the middle of June. I'd much prefer a longer summer and fewer random days off during the year

Apparently going to school on Fridays isn't necessary. I wish they would space the random days off together and create more long weekend or at least take some on Mondays. Classes and specials that only occur on Friday take a real hit when school is closed almost every Friday in the fall.

Why is winter break so short?

Looks great!

It was short this year too.

Link to survey for feedback. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfVp4nx22sbiHBaeFZe1vuaAZAf8SN2oUIsfwZ4ajH4XnbcPw/viewform?c=0&w=1

Last year they DID change the schedule significantly from the draft to the final. So speak up if you have concerns.

That is awful. My kid had foreign language instruction on Fridays this year. I'm not even sure what the point was of taking it, they were hardly ever there.

I counted. 14 Fridays off in this proposed calendar, plus 9 Mondays and assorted other Thursdays plus T-Th for the winter and spring breaks.

I suggest that they take 4 of the Fridays off and move them to the week of Dec. 17, giving the students a proper winter break of 2 weeks. This would alleviate some of the disparity of canceled Friday specials, would allow families to travel for Christmas or for a vacation if they are so inclined and would reduce the disruption so many 4 day school weeks have on learning.

And yes, I responded to the survey.

I think people complained last year that the winter break in 2015 was too long.
