Southern Shores in OBX

Anonymous
We normally stay in Duck, but this year my sister in law rented a house in Southern Shores for all of us.

Any feedback on the beaches, or recommendations of what to do besides the beach? We will have a 12 month when we go.

Many thanks. . .

I think of Southern Shores as an extension of Duck. We go to the beach, or we go into Duck. It's isolated except for the homes, although I guess some homes are closer to things to do than others.

There is a recent post "OBX with kids?" But thanks for hijacking.

easy there. . . my intent wasn't to hijack! I was asking about a specific community in OBX. Southern Shores has never come up in this discussion.

Jeesh. . .

It would have been hijacking if she'd posted this question in the other thread, thereby changing the subject. Not only are you rude, you're wrong, which makes me think you're just looking to take some anonymous aggression out. Go do it somewhere else.

Southern Shores is a nice neighborhood but very "suburban." If you're familiar with the MD/DE beaches, I think of it as Bethany. Not sure what Duck would be in this analogy, though - maybe a much smaller Rehoboth?

Good luck.

This is the OP,

Thanks PP. I appreciated your feedback, and "having my back." This helps me anticipate if we might want to take small road trips to Corolla/Duck, etc.

It depends where in the Southern Shores you are. The SS house we were in last year was literally a one minute drive to the little shops in Duck, so I really didn't think of it as a different area. That's where we went for dining/shopping. And Corolla is only about 20 minutes away, so both are an easy trip from SS.

The nice thing about Southern Shores is that it's a short drive to some of the sites in the other direction. It's not too far a drive from the Black Pelican, the movie theatre, and the outlet stores. I don't think you will be able to walk to a lot of places (like if you were staying in Duck), but the drive to some of the other towns is easy.

I was not attempting to be "right" about anything. I simply didn't understand the post. I was not feigning ignorance. And I speak English quite well.

What the hell?
