| My nephew and his friend are going to NYC for a couple nights to sight see and see a show. They are staying in a hotel one block from Times Square. These are kids who have been raised in the bubble of suburbia and are not street smart. I'm nervous for them and I am not even the mother! What do you think? |
|
They're 18.
They're fine. |
| They are adults... |
| 18-year-olds are adults. Their peers are off fighting wars. Theyshould be able to handle a trip to NYC. |
| seriously??? |
| If they *can't* handle it, they've got much bigger problems and their parents have failed them. |
+1. Have you been to NYC anytime in the past decade, OP? They'll be fine. |
| Perfectly fine. |
| thanks everyone! guess i need to get our more.... |
|
It'll be a good learning experience. Sure, they may end up drunk in Hoboken naked and not sure how it happened, but it'll be good for them to learn that about themselves.
Maybe they'll get their phones stolen. They probably won't get killed. |
| My brother and his friend (ages 19 & 20) just did this, and they are from a small southern town. One had never been on a plane before and neither had been to NYC. They were fine and had fun. |
| My 18 year old went to school at Fordham (ok that's admittedly the Bronx) despite a very suburban MoCo upbringing. She's doing well there. No issues. |
| They should definitely check out the nightlife in Bed-Sty. |
Stuy (obvs) |
| Yeah I was 18 when I moved there for college so this is fine. |
